If that is the case, why the urgency to do any of this now? What's the point? Want to bring in a punter for training camp? Sure, go ahead. Want to get rid of a couple of players or scouts? Let's just wait until the new guy is on board because there is nothing to be gained by acting in haste.

Gay? What makes that gay? And it's not moves that this team makes, it's moves that are being made by one guy that can certainly have waited for the promised GM to get here...unless he already is.

Why meddle in these things? The likely hood of these people being fired, would likely still be fired by the new GM, but, maybe not?

    Point is...

Shouldn't we wait till the actual GM for this team, gets here, and has a say in these things?

    I mean... WTF?

We are in the third week of May.
    There isn’t much to freeze.

No need for Gase to be making the next GMs decisions for him.

  7. There are housekeeping moves that are made around OTAs & the like, not to mention signing draft picks.

I really DK what to say to this..this is the most bizarre mindset ive seen from fans in awhile.

Not wanting the HC to make a single decision in fear that he might gain power. HC in itself IS a position of power. Are we now saying we were ok w a complete absence in organizational leadership & fortitude?

    Again, we are in May.
It's really no different than a GM taking a week's vacation, and I'd suspect late May is a perfect time for them to do so.
    There isn't much going on.

What moves were made that couldn't wait?

Better question, what GM is going to want to sign on to this dynamic?
Once again, the team has limited their options.

  9. Without knowing the context of the moves i have no idea! But is firing one scout & releasing a TE that cant stay healthy moves we really NEEDED to wait on?

Well id think any GM candidate would be more concerned if the Jets had literally no one appointed as interim over The entire FO.

And i guess now a GM shouldnt be expected to have to get along & collaborate w his HC?

For the scouts sake, it gives him the chance to get a new job before hiring season is finished.

For the players, he grabbed a couple guys he knows well and gets them in the building sooner rather than later since OTAs are starting up.

    It looks bad.

Especially with something like scouting department decisions. There is no rush for that at this point.

    Again...

Why not wait till the new GM is made official of that is the case?

Similar to the Mac firing, in a vacuum I dont care about this move. Judging by the last couple drafts, no scout should really be all that safe.

The optics for it are a little weird, but overall I dont think it moves the needle for how the team performs this season.

All I did was post the article and never commented. Your supposition regarding my basis is wrong. Like you the whole org needs to be cleaned out form top to bottom... and that means the owners also.

I stopped reading after some of the posts because they made assumptions also... I just laugh.

How about not wanting what is purported to be an interim GM to be making unnecessary moves that the promised real GM might not agree with? What's the rush?

What new GM?? In case you haven’t noticed, we only have an interim GM that admittedly failed in his prior GM position. We don’t have a GM, which you wouldn’t think would be the case if you fire the old GM in mid May, you would think a better plan was in place than giving all the power to a man that failed with all the power before.

Any scout from the Mac era deserves to be not only fired but tarred, feathered and paraded across east Rutherford swamps as fans hurl rotten fruit and vegetables at them.

Thank you gase for firing another fool from the scouting department

Well, it certainly is simple to paint every guy in the department with that big broad brush of yours. Tell us how much you know about the scouts. How many are there? How long has each been there? Where did they come from? How are each regarded by people inside the NFL? Where did this guy fit in the grand scheme of things? Why the hurry to blow him out or should we just believe Gase was doing him a favor by getting him a head start on his job search?
