i dig this trade. where he was picked is irrelevant. hes going to be a FA next year and we were unlikely to get a 2021 comp pick for his departure. the problem i have is that cj should not be letting gase make moves like this. if the new gm comes in and decides this is a move that needs to be made, then cool. this offer would have been available in a few weeks.
I was hoping to use him to move up in the 4th or 5th round of the draft or get a 5th for him for next year. At this point getting a 6th for him especially after what happened yesterday cut our ties we get a little something and move on. I think at this point it's an addition by subtraction.

He might be. I didn't think he was bad in coverage. That being said though if he is supposed to be in coverage and they run at him the offensive lineman will pancake him or he'll over run the play. Lee isn't as bad as some are making him out but he also isn't as good as others are. Probably should've gotten a 5th for him but one's trash is someone else's treasure.
I can see Andy Reid laughing in his office.. Quick get the Jets on the phone while that dummy Gase is running things.
a bag of footballs is useful, doesn't cost the team any wins, and it doesn't tweet like a 12 year old girl. more than we can say about Lee. Oh yeah, we also got a 6th round pick outta the deal
If you just watch the Lions game, then yeah. Lee was okay in coverage overall. Definitely was time to move on though. I get fans wanting more than a 6th Round Pick, but it is what it is. It makes you think Gase wanted Lee traded for value in this year's draft and Mac never pulled the trigger, which added to the team's frustration. So the first thing he did after Mac was fired was dump Lee.
yup. i said it when he got fired. eveyrone here shits on mac when he did a good job. 1st thing after he's fired is we give away lee for peanuts. gase can't have roster control and needs to stick to coaching
A 2020 sixth??? Should have just kept him. Jets are turning back into a complete joke. Such a shame, they looked like they were finally getting things together to see the rebuild plan come to fruition and now they pull the plug and are giving full control to the head coach??? Sick of this stupid shit.
I wasn’t sure of the exact compensation but I figured it’d be more than a 6th... more evidence of just how clueless this organization is . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sure, it looks stupid from our perspective, but we don't know what Gase and more importantly, G. Williams think of Lee. Since they traded him for only a 6th round pick, they obviously didn't think very much of him and he wasn't part of their plans, so why not get something for him? If browningnagle is right and it was intended as a message to the team that they weren't going to tolerate Lee's type of attitude, demeanor and were going to hold players accountable? Isn't it good news in that scenario? I can understand your lack of trust in Gase since you don't like him, but what about G. Williams? Don't you think that he would have signed off on this trade?
For those of you who think the trade of Lee for a sixth rounder was smart, lets wait and see what a superior coach does with a very good cover LB who should have never played inside in the Jets scheme anyhow. Gase overreacted as he is known to do when he feels a player is not singing his tune. Time will tell, but we better get a GM here ASAP...Gase is woefully unacceptable as a GM at this juncture.
LOL. And wasn't the Lions game the one the Jets defense was accused of stealing their play-calling......LOL
