He can't evaluate NFL talent potential, that matters when you get out of the first round

  5. I'd take that to mean something short of the actual GM. Why say "prominent" if it's actually GM. Likely one of the top scouts in a DIck hailey/Terry Bradway A.D. type of role which frankly the Jets need. Jeremiah has a good eye for talent & is very even keeled. He also has experience as a scout. I wouldn't mind him coming on board as long as he isn't the actual GM.

This is either a stroke of genius destined to lead the Jets toward a Super Bowl destiny...

Or the same shit we've been dealing with for 50 years.

He and Joe Douglas are close friends since their days in Baltimore.

Gents, I genuinely came over here to see reactions, not to start trouble.

And while I cannot stand the team, I have lots of Jets fan friends. And...I have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on with your team right now.

I was totally on the Gase bandwagon in 2016, and watched some of the moves he made in the offseason, the control he acquired with roster moves, and his adamant proclamations that everything had to be done a specific way. There was zero room for any other voice but his. And I remember saying to my friend, "The only thing that concerns me is that there's a chance he MIGHT be the next Chip Kelly. Arrogantly refuses to adapt, insists that his way will work, no matter what."

By the end of 2018, most of the fan base, including myself, was completely fed up with the arrogant *****. He played favorites in the locker room, alienated and traded quality players, specifically said he didn't pay attention to the defense, and once again...refused to adapt. He kept running the same dumb-ass schemes when they didn't work, oblivious to the fact that he didn't have the right personnel to run them. He's rumored to have yelled at the owner to leave him alone, because he knew more about football than the owner did, and he utilized players based on what appeared to be decided by a Magic 8-Ball.

As I've said before, "You can be an arrogant ***** and get away with it as long as you're *right.*" Gase hasn't been right in a while. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he'll turn it around for you guys, and piss off the Patriots. That would be awesome.

But this looks like a spectacularly bad idea to me.

The real problem is the Johnsons. Why wait until AFTER the draft to fire the GM??? They should have fired him immediately after last season if that is the route they wanted to go. What an idiotic move. Fire the guy that got the team its first franchise QB since Namath and let him spend $100m and draft #3 overall before firing him.... I can't even....

And that pretty much sums up every decision that's been made in the past 5o years

I never read and can't find anything about him being late or begin unaware of his mother's passing. Link?

If you look at the cluster F with Oakland it makes perfect sense.

The only problem for me is timing. It makes the Jets look like the moron franchise everyone makes fun of them for being. Should have fired Mac in January. No one would have said a thing, including me, who slightly supported Mac staying since he drafted Sam. Now he hired Gase, signed players, drafted players, then gets fired? Crazy.

Should have just dumped him along with Bowles, as a lot on here felt last year. But I guess it's better to let him pick the HC, spend a fuck ton in FA, and conduct the draft first.

    Most inept ownership in sports.

Yes! Why let him run the draft and FA and them let him go. I was not a huge fan of Mac so I am not disappointed in the move but the timing is sooooooooooo Jets!

Yeah, he worked for the Ravens. Still, we're a joke, my vote is for Kiper.
