So Mac staged the bad interviews in Indy, the slow 40s, and the bad workouts? Wow - He must have access to that Photoshop thingie.
I think it's far more likely that your GM wasn't aware of Polite's pre draft issues. Then he saw Polite was available in the 3rd and Mel Kiper Jr had a 1st round grade on him so...BPA!
LOL yup, I'm waiting for 'whispers and rumors' to start up against top lineman in the 2020 draft. We might get the top Center in the 3rd round!
I know, but usually that bad stuff just stays as that. With Polite, there were 'other concerns' swirling around that no one could clarify. Just 'other issues'. Who was 'whispering'?
Or that none of the 31 other teams have anybody working for them who won't be satisfied with rumor and want to see some facts. Or is that just us Bozos on some insignificant message boards?
ROFLOL! THAT I can definitely relate to. I think any long-term Jets fan probably has brain damage from following this team.
Are you saying he didn't look at Polite's combine results or is there something else out there that you categorize as "pre draft issues?" Details, please.
I have a hard time believing Mac planned the draft the way it fell for him. The irony is that if Polite turns out to be a steal than once again for the third year in a row Mac had extraordinary luck landing his top players. He should play the lotto..... Seriously whether it was by design or simply luck I hope Polite turns out to be better than the analysts forecasts. A steady pass rush is what is preventing this defense from being a top 5 one. And for Mac’s sake he better hope the Jets are not going into the 2020 offseason still looking to solve the pass rushing riddle because he may not be the one solving it ...
As Polite signs his rookie deal, I can't help but wonder if Mac himself was behind Polite's slide. A top half of the 1st round pic who shows up at the combine 10lbs overweight and nursing a bad hammy is not ideal, but is the kind of thing GMs explain away to their fan base. But not in Polite's case. There was definitely an anti-Polite drum beat that all analyst were beating. Desperate for a pass rusher, Mac may have been partially responsible for sowing rumores of Polites 'issues', especially after his combine. If so, then it worked marvelously. We'll probably never know, but between you and me I think Mac had a lot to do with it. I wish I could track all the 'behind the scenes' tweets that led to Polite's slide. Too much credit to Mac?
Mac simply doesn't do his job well enough to be able to spread rumors that other GM's will react to. That's actually absurd. Now a guy like the Ravens Ozzie Newsome? That's a guy that could spread a rumor and see other GM's react. Even in retirement he probably has that power.
Macc is not that clever. This is a guy who drafted Hackenberg in the 2nd round. There were more than just Macc that downgraded Polite after the combine.
You're giving wayyy too much credit to Mac. This was just another questionable post 1st round pick, nothing more to read into it.
This isn't even close to the same kind of "questionable" as almost every other post-first round pick. Polite has first round talent, you can't say that about any of the other classic Macc busts.
Questionable is questionable and that's classic Mac. We'll see if he lives up to his "first round talent".
Questionable is not questionable. Taking a guy in the third who was projected to be a first rounder before a bad combine is nowhere near the same as taking a guy in the third round who played D3 ball after playing in Canada. Or a guy in the 2nd round who most said would be a terrible QB. You get it by now.
Exactly. In 1981 George Young convinced Bum Phillips that Lawrence Taylor was into young girls and blowing coke so they took George Rodgers.
