https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/je...AWDEtNNsf6nKY1SekW3HZucddH2tTNfMCKYhnIwlrk3Ds As Polite signs his rookie deal, I can't help but wonder if Mac himself was behind Polite's slide. A top half of the 1st round pic who shows up at the combine 10lbs overweight and nursing a bad hammy is not ideal, but is the kind of thing GMs explain away to their fan base. But not in Polite's case. There was definitely an anti-Polite drum beat that all analyst were beating. Desperate for a pass rusher, Mac may have been partially responsible for sowing rumores of Polites 'issues', especially after his combine. If so, then it worked marvelously. We'll probably never know, but between you and me I think Mac had a lot to do with it. I wish I could track all the 'behind the scenes' tweets that led to Polite's slide. Too much credit to Mac?
Conspiracy: Hackenberg hacked OP's account. This must be true because Hackenberg contains the word hack.
Wow this post is out there and I don't see how Mac could have convinced 31 other organizations to pass on him twice all by himself. I think its the stupidity of the combine + the overemphasis on interviewing. If a prospect didnt do anything illegal or commit any major team violations, why does bad interviewing and combine drop a guy more than 1 round? Regardless, we weren't getting a first round talent in the 3rd round unless there were red flags. I think the risk is calculated as it doesn't appear that this guy is a psychopath. Ironically, franchises have placed higher bets on guys that had bigger issues than Polite did.
Intuition. GMs have before dropped rumors about a particular player in hopes that player 'slides' to them in the draft. I've heard it discussed many times over the years. But Macc/Polite? It just seems to perfect. IF Mac really wanted Polite to slide to the 3rd, he MAY have made a few phone calls. Dropped a rumor here and there. That's all it would take. That's what GMs do. Polite falling to the Jets in the 3rd round just seems too perfect for Mac to never have participated in the 'dark arts'. I actually give him credit if he did.
LOL I actually went to that web site a year or so ago when media was claiming Info Wars swung the election.
I kind of agree Polite did it all to himself, except the constant anti-Polite talk from all the announcers and daily reporters. Just seems (to me) there was far more 'talk' then actual bad stuff. SOMEONE kept the anti-Polite flame going. Like 2 years ago when that top O-lineman had that pic of him gas-masking a bong 5 minutes before he was supposed to be on the clock. He slid 2 rounds to the Dolphins. Shit like this happens all the time. Did Mac have anything to do with the 'noise' the helped Polite fall into his lap? It's not a huge stretch, unless we think Mac is too stupid to coordinated something like this.
Polite's own Florida HC talked him up and dispelled 'rumors'. In the article, there's this: There are whispers, though, from executives with other teams about more baggage than just immaturity. Who was doing the 'whispering'? That's all I'm asking. If it was Mac, Mac deserves a raise. https://nypost.com/2019/05/08/jachai-polites-ex-coach-calms-concerns-on-jets-big-time-steal/
My brain is definitely 'cooked', but it's not from aluminum foil! It's from following this damn team...
That was Laramy Tunsil. He was expected to go 6th to the Ravens and fell to 13 the where Miami picked him. He fell 7 spots not 2 rounds.
H If Mac really wanted a Pass Rusher he could have taken J Allen his first pick But no..his grand scheme was get his BPA QW at 1 and with rumors flying, be able to have Polite waiting for him 2 rounds later It’s sounds bizarre enough for this to be true He needs to cook up a plan for OL
