Well, maybe that answers that then... Mac, which centre should I get in the draft if possible or through FA Gase, I like what we have already thanks. Mac, Great I can draft some D at number 3, love it.
Oh boy. This is quite alarming. I mean maybe a new coach and an altered scheme will make him an actual starting caliber player but as of right now... he ain’t.
This sounds to me like standard coachspeak. He's the best center currently on the roster, so Gase thinks he's doing a great job talking, oh sorry, "leading" (which is pretty much all they can do right now anyway). If someone better comes along he'll be fantastic depth for the entire line. If two better people come along he might get cut. It all means nothing until training camp at least.
Exactly. What the hell can he say at this point? "We're in deep trouble at center"??? We'e already heard that Gase was annoyed that Mac didn't push harder for a FA center. Gase must now do his best with what he's got.
Who cares about what Gase is saying about our second rate center? This is a fluff piece and he's never going to tell us the truth. If the Jets go through a 3rd season with crap at Center, Mac should be fired. There's no excuses any more.
From what ive gathered Gase isnt very good at coachspeak & fibbing to fit a narrative. An example is i dont think hes very high on Darron Lee based on prior answers. He seemed rather convincing about Harrison but even moreso the OL. Im kinda the opposite.I actually think Harrison has had upside since he came here from Indy & has shown glimpses when given playing time.Hes still relatively young & i think w a good offseason as the incumbent starter he may ascend into a decent center.Hes alot more talented than Wesley Johnson & played alot better than Long after his thumb injury. The OL as a whole still needs another bull to lean on. I actually think w better coaching theyll be better in pass pro & will keep Sam upright..but the running game is another story.Osemele is the only quality drive blocker on the whole unit. They are way too finesse & can get pushed around.
I hope you're right about Harrison. And I really hope Edoga becomes the future at one of the OT spots.
Edoga is a good prospect. His senior bowl practice footage was impressive & had a feeling Jets would like him. He’s got that finesse skillset & size prototype Zone teams like. I hate the Beachem comparison thats out there bc its solely based on size. I think Edoga has better athleticism & much more upside than Beachem.
I feel like we're gonna be too good to land the cream of the crop OT prospects in next year's draft. Little and Thomas are the blue chip can't miss OT's IMO. But the class is deep enough to get a good prospect in round 2 after grabbing a WR in round 1. Of course, I'm not the one making these decisions.
How will he not see better? A rookie and a guy who can’t get to the QB. This is some echo chamber....
Really folks.? Do you expect Gase to say he is marginal and hoping for someone to dethrone him in training camp? Standard vote of confidence one gives every player. Including those that don't make it out of training camp.
