I’ve been told that we’ve gotten the best player 3 out of the last 5 drafts, the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck and the best all around RB in football in his prime. That’s a lot of bests. Why aren’t we talking about division championships and Super Bowls?
He was hands down the best pure passer to come out of last years draft ... he has amazing touch on his down the field throws. I am going to absolutely hate Rosen on the Fins. I think the Fins made an underrated hire in Jim Caldwell too. That will benefit Rosen big time.
Young, unproven and still need to fill out the roster. Oh and let’s not forget about Benjamin Buttons up in NE. I’m hopeful we will be talking division championships and Superbowls with the core of the roster, if Brady ever ages that is.
Another thing is while the Jets have had a solid offseason this is still a team that won 4 games last year. I would love for them to win 12-13 games and win the division but a more realistic type of improvement for this year is 9-10 wins and competing for a WC. That would be a huge improvement from last year. I think 2020 if they have a good offseason next year is when the Jets could compete for the division and #1 seed in AFC. They are definitely on the upswing though.
The reality is though that teams can, and do, dramatically improve - look at the Rams for one example. You don't necessarily have to go incrementally. That said, I agree that as of now I would hope for a 9-7 record, and be upset with anything less than .500.
If we were able to recognize truth in a timely manner, none of us would be Jets fans. At least we'll always have Buffalo fans to look down on. Well, until they fold up and move to St. Louis or some such.
