The AFC East is shaping up to be much, much better this coming year than it has in a long time. This is also a concern too though. 3 middling teams (Jets, Bills, Dolphins) beating up on each other which will lead to another easy division title for the Pats. I think 11 wins gets the AFC East crown for sure this year. The Bills and Jets matchups are going to be good this year. I imagine very competitive and will come down to the wire. I expect that we will split with the Bills.
Sweep the East!!! We've only won the AFC East twice....that needs to change. Wild Card slots and subsequent road games are too big a hurdle. The Jets are all new & improved...coaches, players and branding. It's time to stick a flag in the turf and start kicking some AFC ass. whew...I need a nap.
“I like Jarrett Stidham a lot. We talked about a lot of guys that were potential 1st round draft picks. I love Jarrett Stidham and...I wouldn’t of thought it was crazy for someone to draft him in the 1st round.” -Tim Hasselbeck ESPN NFL Analyst
At some point NE has to decline but until they do the division is still known as the Pats and the three stooges.
Pretty much. If the new & improved NY Jets can't take wins against our divison rivals then we're fucked. We have some tough games early on...if we can sweep the Bills and the Dolphins and take a game from the Pats...that'd be nice. I fully expect 5 wins within our division!
Hoping for 4. I do think the Jets will sweep the Dolphins and split with the Bills. I am hoping they can get one from NE but that is easier said then done.
I'm of the mindset that our defense has got to hold the fort while the offense gets their sea legs. That could put us in good stead to make a run in the back half of the schedule.
I've been thinking about this situation, and this looks like a decent thread in which to bring it up: QB: Darnold (2018 1st Round) Allen (2018 1st Round) Rosen (2018 1st Round) DT: Williams (2019 1st Round) Oliver (2019 1st Round) Wilkins (2019 1st Round) Is the AFC East Cellar trying to get on the same cycle or what? If so, Buffalo has it easy, as they just follow the Jets' example. Miami had to actually do some work with the Rosen trade to make this happen. What position are we drafting next year, girls?
My sense is that Rosen is not liked by his teammates and that will limit his potential. Also, in general, there are psychological issues with him.
Its funny because I see it completely opposite. I can't wait until we play Miami with Rosen at the helm - that's 2 easy wins - if he doesn't take a big hit before then. He's one shot away from being out of football.
I have a funny feeling when Rosen finally takes over he's going to kill it. He's super durable, great team-mate, works hard and throws a beautiful ball. Having a professional OC for the first time is going to be a big plus. He had virtually no coaching last year and played with the worst offensive talent of any of the rookie QB's. In the Cardinals 3 wins he had two game winning drives, one when it was snowing and blowing in Green Bay. Game winning drive against SF when he actually had some time in the pocket
Somebody nailed it on the head, if the Jets are going to be a playoff vying team, then they have to win at least 4 games vs East. It starts there. That’s tough. We don’t normally play the Bills well. Vs Pats we win, one game what every rwo / three years?
