What ruined "Draft weekend" for me was the news that Miami traded for Josh Rosen - and got him for pennies on the dollar. That took a bite out of my optimism. Why? Because I can't stand the Dolphins. For us to take the big steps forward that will be required to unseat the team from the north, we have to separate ourselves from our other two division opponents. It looked like that certainly was happening with regards to our turquoise and orange foes from Florida. I figured all Sam had to do was to be better than Josh Allen and we'd be in good shape going forward with regards to Buffalo. Now this. I know I know, given the choice of the three QB's we wouldn't trade our savior for anyone, but it was only a year ago when there was much debate about that. It's crazy that all three QB's are in the same division and could be for years. Not only that, Buffalo and Miami drafted top talent on the defensive line just like we did. It's as if all three teams are copying each other while the Pats sit back, chuckle, and have their driver take them to hand-job places. It's not so much that I fear Rosen, it's just that I hate it when they get such a lucky break when it took us so long to get into a position to acquire a young franchise QB. Freakin' Miami basically had one handed to them. F*ck. I'm surprised this doesn't seem to bother this board too much. Who feels the same way?
It sucks big time, Miami got a huge steal. I hope Rosen busts though. He is easy to hate and so are the Fish. If its any consolation, Miami'll probably screw it up. Fitzpatrick will have some early success and it will create a QB controversy, happens everywhere with him. It will hopefully damage Rosen and be a huge embarrassing flop. Idk, wishful thinking on a Wednesday
I'm floored that the Giants didn't make this deal before getting on the clock at 6, but I guess the Giants haven't really done too many smart things over the last few years. Normally I wouldn't care but it helped the Dolphins land a guy that as of a year ago, I thought was going to be a high-caliber QB in this league. I still think he can be, now I just don't want him to be. Luckily the Dolphins are also a bit stupid, but certainly better than what's going on in Arizona. I worry about him behind that OL and also not having too much talent around him at the skill positions. I'm not worried about Rosen being in the division per say, I'm just not happy about it. Luckily Allen is going to set the Bills back a few years. Take the good with the bad I guess.
Rosen has the potential to be really good but also the potential to implode. He is in a bad situation in Miami without a very strong supporting cast. With his attitude problems and his inability to move in the pocket he could have problems. I think Rosen might get to meet Quinnen and Polite a few times this year. Allen scares me. He is a very bad QB who simply cannot throw from the pocket with any consistency but he is a really good runner and Buffalo has a good team absent a QB. Their defense put up historic numbers last year and is arguably the best defense in the league. They loaded up in OL in FA and they dont need Allen to do much to win other than not be completely terrible.
It would’ve been worse if Miami outright drafted him last year. Now he is coming off a very bad year and is taking some baggage with him. I don’t like that the Dolphins got him for basically nothing but I am highly confident that the Jets have the best QB prospect going forward.
Disagree I actually think Allen is going to be good. He was 5-6 as a starter last year with almost no talent on offense around him. Even Shady struggled behind that horrible O-Line. They upgrade the O-Line, upgrade the receiving corps so he should be better. What is really concerning about the Bills is they add Oliver to the #2 ranked D last year. The Bills and Jets will fight it out for 2nd place in the division and maybe even a WC spot.
#2 ranked defense didn't bother Sam on the road in a game-winning drive. Our shit ranked D bothered Allen at home in a game-winning drive though.
That game winning drive was great for Sam. But that means nothing for this year. Just like I don't the expect the Bills to kick the Jets ass again at MetLife. Most likely they split again with each team winning at home. I think Darnold is better than Allen/Rosen but I think all three will be good. I still say the Jets-Bills will battle it out for 2nd in the division and a WC. Both teams are evenly matched. IMHO.
I think a lot of what Allen put on tape last year is going to haunt him. He's not a good thrower, never has been, so he's going to have to rely on his crazy athleticism and size to make plays. Easier said than done obviously, and especially when it's a guy as big as Allen, but teams are going to start seeing tendencies and adjusting. I'm interested to see what happens between Fitz and Rosen. Do they start with Fitz and hope Rosen can come in for the save, but also risk Fitz having one of his classic bullshit Fitzmagic runs and cementing Rosen on the bench? Or do they start with Rosen and hope that he plays well enough to not have to worry about benching him? I think a guy like Rosen would handle being benched pretty terribly at this point. He's been through enough shit, and that's not even taking into account he's a bit of a loose cannon. He's definitely got the talent though and I was looking forward to rooting for him. Now I have to hate him.
Rosen will be the new punching bag in this division. He’s a sack waiting to happen and I’m really happy Miami traded for him. Although I think Fitz will win the job. Jets and Bills will be entertaining matchups going forward though. Jets have the better overall team talent imo, but both are improving.
I don't know what they are going to do in Miami. The Dolphins will be terrible this year no matter who starts. Long term Rosen is the guy short term IDK. Fitz will be a good mentor for Rosen though.
After watching them all in college, I truly thought Rosen would be the best pocket passer of the bunch, and was glad when Arizona leap frogged Miami to get him..... nothing against the kid, but now that he's on the phins, I hope he phlops..... If they were smart, theyd let him sit behind Fitztragic for a bit until they shore up that O-line.... but luckily they havent been smart in a long time
Hopefully above all else this leads to the end of the cheaters reign.everyone of the other teams in this division deserve a swing in Bellicheats direction & i hope this leads to it. The difference between Darnold/Alllen & Rosen, is Rosen is not a team leader. I kinda get a feeling the phins will be awful, have a top 10 pick & Rosen is right back on the trade block next year.
I dont think Rosen would be a good fit in NY. The media would eat him alive. With his inability to filter out his statements and his ego it would be really ugly. Of all the big 4 QBs in Darnold, mayfield's Rosen and Jackson the Jets got the one best suited for the NY media.
Every one is ignoring the fact NE got Stidham in the 4th. Coming out of high school Stidham was rated higher than all 3 of those guys. He’s part of the same elite 11 class as Rosen & Darnold. A school sex scandal and a poor transfer choice led him to the 4th round. Every team in the division has a talented young QB.
Allen should scare us; he already can win ugly. If he were to ever figure out the nuances of QB’ing, he could end up being the best of the bunch.
Nothing suggests he can figure out the nuances of QBing. He hasn't even been able to get the basics down. The Bills are going to have to be extremely creative if they want that offense to succeed with Allen under center.
