You are correct about Thuney. That was an error on my part when going back and forth over the data.

I believe he could for 2 reasons.
    1. He's considered to be a 1st round talent who fell because of a poor combine and immaturity.
    2. Good teams need to replenish their rosters with cheap talent. They need to make tough decisions on which players to let go and which to keep.

Mac's draft record speaks for itself. He couldn't spot talent unless it hits him in the face a la L. Williams, Adams, Darnold and Q. Williams.

His ability to evaluate talent is demonstrably lacking. There's a reason our roster has been gutted under his tenure. Based on his first 4 draft classes I expect the majority of these picks in 2019 not to even be here 2-3 years from now.

You have to throw a bunch of these :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: in the mix...or else Champ can't compute.

Not using your feelings that are running wild on this message board...but rather using FACTS... Prove me wrong.

I only had time to pick the "best" team to compare us against but feel free to look up some others.

    2015-2018 Drafts

    JETS - 28 picks

Currently still have 18 on the team (64%)

    9 are starters (32%)

    Patriots - 33 picks

Currently still have 14 on the team (42%)

    4 are starters (12%)

So you say "Mac sucks at drafting" but what are you basing it on? Almost 3/4 of his picks are still kicking and it looks like this year will be no different.

    Which is harder:

    - Making and staying on a perennial SB roster

    OR

    - Making and staying on a perennial bottom 10 roster?

As with all measurements, raw number by themselves don't tell the true story.

6 Championships for NE says it all>>>>>superior management/coaching, better talent evaluation , a reluctance to overpay free agents and a preference for quantity of draft picks

In fairness, no one in the NFL Coaches and motivates like Belichek

He's won using three players Brady Gronk and Edelman....the rest are semi scrubs and maybe I left out one great player on Defense

He gets a good one like Sony Michel and turns him into gold

It's not the Cards you are dealt it's how you play the Cards

Floundering Mac aside, I hope Gase and Greg W get to work

Please elaborate on the "off the field issues." Be specific.

If that's truly the case then this just reinforces how poor Mac is at drafting and our shitty W-L record supports that.

One thing he has that Allen does not have is a spin move. I've seen him use it multiple times on film. That was the big knock on Allen, all speed no alternate moves.

Wicked spin move. Reminiscent of Freeney.

The difference is Brady plain and simple . If Sam turns into what we all hope then the Jets will be right up there

I would rather throw 2 darts with my right hand than 5 with my left. Quantity is not always better than quality

Jets have drafted the fewest OL since 07, need another WR in a deep WR draft, could use a CB. Could have stayed put in the 4th taking Julian Love or Samia, taken Jordan or Oruwariye after trading down in the 4th, Harmon or Boyd in the 6th. Walker a better LB prospect was available in the 5th.

    Bingo!

How many guys has Brady made look like very good NFL receivers only for them to be later cut and never heard from again?

Brady has single handedly made New England the power house they have been for so long. Without Brady, Bellicheck would have been fired from all those suck ass draft picks

Agree with your post but again that's the not the point of the argument, especially considering Bellichick is head of all football operations and doesn't have a GM to answer to. The point about the draft was just the draft, in a vaccum. We all know how great Bellichick is as a coach and how amazing New England has been for years and years. But at the end of the day, his drafts have sucked balls for a long time. Which was the enitre point of bringing him up

At least two major factors you're omitting from this comparison.

    1) The Jets picks have been higher, on average, every year. Thus the players should be better and more likely to stick.

    2) If Beli is better at finding players that fit his system in areas OTHER than the draft, then he's going to be cutting more draft picks as a result. Theoretically, he's cutting guys that would stick with the Jets.

The Patriots always seem to have a better roster than we do, so naturally draft picks have a tougher hill to climb in making that roster.

Yes, it's interesting that with all those "mistakes" he's made with his sucky drafts he's turned doo doo into championship teams

So I guess you are saying Mac gave us a little better drafts and we are still doo doo in the vacuum ?Ahahah
