ill be interested to see how these pathway players work out. I saw the Bills Picked up an English Rugby Union player and with this guy coming from Australian Rugby League. One thing is for certain they will be both be tough and hardened. If they can pick up the game quickly then they could be real steals.
I remember being excited for that last rugby guy we got that had all those accolades from rugby and tried to make it as a TE, never really panned out for him.
I’m from Sydney and have watch Val Holmes play plenty of league and he is a great athlete, hoping he can make a go of it with the a Jets.
6′ 1″ 187 lbs Kinda small maybe sticks on ST or short yardage, 3rd down..in pre-season and practice..4th WR or Maybe that Eric Metcalf role H-back...he was awesome.
Nothing more than a warm body for camp. Bit of a shame because there are actual football players who are more deserving and although slim, would have had a chance to show something (Chrebet...?)
Thanks for posting this! Holy crap! He doesn't look 6'1", but he does look VERY fast. What position will he play RB, WR, CB, STs? Heck, if Catanzaro gets hurt, he looks like he could even placekick or maybe punt. I hope he can run with shoulder pads and football gear on. I'm not expecting much from him or any of the international players, but he is quite an athlete and looked amazing in those highlights.
I believe the way this program is set up is we get a practice squad exemption for him , we can keep 11 players instead of 10 . If he actually makes the active roster all bets are off
I doubt he has a chance to make the roster. Having never played the game, it's extremely unlikely. The Pats player has a shot though. He played college ball at Tennessee. What's strange is that the international players can not be activated from the practice squad once the season begins. Pretty much a stunt by the league to grow international interest.
I'd like to know what process was used to determine which player was assigned or designated to what team. It figures the Pats player would have played college football at Tennessee, while other teams get stuck with players with little or no chance to make it.
