The 2nd vid to play after Crowder is Sam's first few mins as a Jet... Edit: I added another Manish/Crowder write up about mid way down page 2...
He could be a very interesting signing, off that video he is certainly effective off the play fake type throws, a handy short to medium target for Sam
This move might quietly become one of my favorites in recent memory. The Bell signing was a fuckin godsend, in my eyes, but I think adding Crowder might become a fantastic move in the near future. Many posters, myself included, have consistently stated how important pass catching backs and slot receivers are for a young QB. Signing Bell will become a tremendous help for Darnold coming out of the backfield, but this guy may be the golden ticket to "moving the chains". This is the kind of guy you want running a route up the middle when you are 3rd and short yardage. He may become one of the most important players on this offense next season. I'm very excited to see what Darnold does with him. Crowder will extend drives and will gather momentum that leads to scoring drives. There's not much to "not love" about this move
These highlight reals will be much funner when the starts making the great plays are wearing our new uni's and every pass or handoff comes form SamTheMan!
That's Gase's bread n butter call. Throw short of the marker and let the receivers make a play to get the first down.
For some reason, Gase had a deep ball passing game in 2016, that was very successful as Stills had a great year. He went away from it, potentially due to bad qb play. Gase is completely matchup dependent. Adjustments will be made, but I don't anticipate the same type of playcalling with the Jets as he did late with the Fins. We have a better qb.
Even in 16, his play calling was so inconsistent. I don't really know what to expect from him. But I guess we will know in about 5 1/2 months.
I haven't had too much of an issue with his play-calling. All coaches make questionable calls, I do know his screen game was very dangerous and usually picked up first downs. My main gripe with him was his lack of Drake usage. To me, Gase's tenure in Miami, he dealt with a lot of injuries, but I came away impressed with how that team competed under his tenure. They won a lot of close games, but at the end that team just wasn't talented enough / healthy enough to be an average team on a consistent basis. I think if Gase learned his lesson from what went wrong in Miami, he could become one heck of a head coach, given that he learned from his experiences. Sometimes, 2nd chances for HCs can be a God-send. Hopefully Gase is the next HC that takes advantage of the 2nd opportunity. That said, 5 1/2 months.
My only doubt is that 2nd chance HCs that have been successful, have done so after multiple stops before that second chance. Can't think of any that we're immediately successful on the next job. I'm nuetral, was unimpressed with his time in Miami. Besides Drake, he under used Ajayi when Foster was healthy, and they won close games due to playing a conservative game to try and keep it close so they would have a chance late. They we're terrible on the road and the games they lost, we're usually by large margins. I'm hoping for the best, but have a show me attitude for now. He has the talent and I expect a good first year, I question his ability to sustain it in future years. I'm hoping he can. I'm getting old and don't have many mulliigan's left....
Ajyai isn't all that impressive, and yet they never really missed a beat in the run game. That Dolphins personnel on O wasn't that great to begin with. It was more-so to move the chains and take shots down the field when the shot came. Tannehill IMO isn't a QB you want to be aggressive with. Gase went 7-1 last season in one-score games, and 20-6 in three seasons. That to me matters A LOT. How many 1 score games did the Jets blow? They were competitive with Gase. They did shit the bucket in some games, but so do other teams that aren't as talented. Remember also, they had a lot of injuries late in the season last year and years before. That team was never equipped to come back from big deficits. IMO Fins made a mistake. Wait and see approach I agree is the right approach.
He had 4 really good games that year, but wasn't as effective the next year or any years afterwards. He had some big games tho in 2016, cant deny that.
I like the fact that he's not only a natural slot receiver, but also a slot receiver who's able to beat you deep.
