back on subject - right now with the way this team has been assembled - an 8-8 season would be successful. Just have to see what shakes out in the draft/remaining free agency to see if the team could go further.
You're not going home with the hot chick at the bar with this attitude. Having low expectations won't protect you from the heartbreak of another crappy season. If you project 5 wins and we win 12 will that make you stupid? The great thing about sports and life, is you can go from zippy the chimp to King Kong and back again over night. High expectations may not be met. Low expectations will not be exceeded.
Couple of misses in some key spots, but overall I'd consider it a good offseason. 10 wins seems a bit optimistic for me, but I'd be pretty upset with less than 8 this upcoming season.

I would need to be some kind of psychiatrist to make sense of this jumble of crap, I think you may well need to learn how to digest sentences and what they actually mean before replying. I will give it a stab. Bold 1 - Ah well, the very essence of message boards premise fucked in one swift sentence - Period!!!!!!!! x 1 million, meaning - not open for further discussion. Bold 2 - No I find it stupid to "EXPECT" and this is the point of the whole argument, the one point you have spectacularly failed to understand, EXPECT v WANT/HOPE/POSSIBILITY OF, not EXPECT PERIOD. Bold 3 - Trying to argue a point with you would lead me to believe you are correct on this point at least, as for overreacting well if the cap fits etc Bold 4 - I can't believe you're that dumb that you did not understand the sentence "a guy who has been a fan for 50 years, you would think he would have learnt a lesson by now." You do understand the metaphor of a long term fan being over excited and let down time after time after time, right? But it seems you do not at the moment though. Bold 5 - What are these accusations? Bold 6 - Maybe you should get some and take the full course until completion. Oh and btw I have been a fan since 1983/4 substantially longer than your 5 year insult earlier. I agree with you K'OB, no one should EXPECT 10 wins. Being a fan of this team for 50 years doesn't make you more or less knowledgeable.
I fear the original point of the argument of "EXPECT PERIOD" over "HOPE FOR//THINK WE'LL GET" has been lost, you never expect anything period and as long term Jet fans I thought this would have been understood in an instant tbh.
A lot has to go right for this team, as presently constructed, to win 10 games this year. But history is on our side for at least 9 wins. From Parcells on, every Jets HC has won 9+ games in their first season.
Thanks to all who posted in favor of having a high expectation! Once the Schedule is made official my intention is to find the evidence to show how 10 wins is feasible Last year I said we would suck to 3 wins and the team got 4
