I read somewhere (no link, sorry) that the Jets did reach out to him but I guess after that they didn't move their lard asses fast enough. He got 3 yrs. $27 mil in Carolina (don't know the guaranteed amt). I have no clue if there was any talk of money with the Jets, but the Jets probably just fckd it up. What I am sure about was this post wasn't a big help. ; )

Supposedly the Broncos offered the same money per season, but no word on injury clauses and such. Maybe he got more guaranteed money than any other offer?

Do we actually know the Jets passed? I haven't heard any details on the situation. Maybe Paradis just didn't want to come to NY.

Heard teams were concerned with the injury. At the price and need the Jets should've offered him something. That being said they didn't for a reason. It's day two of free agency/trade market and the draft. It'll work out.

I heard they pronounced his surname wrong and it pissed him off.

It was mentioned in one of the Chris Nimbley podcasts (which have been surprisingly informative) that many teams would not deal with Paradis and a market could not develop for him until he was examined by team doctors and that would not be allowed until the start if the new league year at 4pm Wednesday. Paradis rather than waiting ran out of patience and took the cheap Carolina offer which makes one wonder how well his injury has healed.

If it hasn't healed, are the Panthers stuck, or can they rescind the offer? I wonder if they included some sort of language in the contract to protect themselves.

So it’s not because the Jets wouldn’t give him Anthony Schlegel’s contact info?

The article I read said Paradis wanted to go somewhere “more country” but that may have been bull. Too few cowboys in NY (except for that guy from Village People)

The jets supposedly pulled out of making an offer to Paradis - that would suggest that either (i) they believed Paradis wasn't serious about coming to the jets and was trying to leverage their offer with someone else, (ii) something else happened with Paradis that raised questions about whether they wanted to sign him or (iii) they decided they had a better option elsewhere.

I suspect its (iii) and the better option they've identified is Josh Sitton who was just released from Miami (who, although a guard, has played some center). I think that when the Jets found out he was being released by Miami is when they decided to pull their offer to Paradis. There are various reports saying he's coming to the Jets - http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26252225/fins-release-sitton-likely-join-jets. There's no place else to play him but center, unless you sit one of the starting guards you've already got on the roster (that you're paying like starters).

$9 mill a year is a lot for a center. It’s probably for the best

I think you need to take a physical before signing.

    9 mil for a top 3 center isn't a lot.

Also, we just paid CJ Mosley $17 mil per year, lol. At this point, money is all moot.

Mosley is a MLB. “The Quarterback” of the defense. Center is not even close in its importance.

Personally, I’d roll with Harrison. He did just fine in relief. Save the money and upgrade at tackle and corner
