This is getting ridiculous.. Was the deadline to sign today at 4pm? WTF is going on with Bell. Is he coming or not? Has ANYONE signed their contract offers yet or do we only have verbal commitments.. Just asking the questions..
So nothing is certain then regarding any of the FA's that have been linked to us or any other team. Bell or any of the other guys can opt out at anytime without consequences? If so, sounds like we were premature if all we have are verbal commitments.
There are probably guys at the facility right now with agents talking and signing. Until 4pm today, all of the free agents were still tchnically employed by their previous teams. In the past, 4 pm is when GM’s were allowed to start talking to the free agents, but since everyoneone was illegally talking to each other prematurely, they changed the rules so that you can have discussions before the true start of free agency.
Good.. then lets take advantage and use this as a do over.. Perhaps we can steal a Center from somewhere since nothing is in writing..
NFL doesn't suffer from an epidemic of false rumors around FA signings, and players reneging on deals is also extremely rare. Understandable to be spooked by Barr vomiting up our new team colors, but no real reason to worry.

That would require basically resetting the market for centers... going enough past what the Panthers offered to Paradis to convince him to change his mind would be pure desperation, and essentially a very bad move in what has otherwise been a quality free agency for the Jets.
I'm not worried, this sort of delay happens every year. It's just that this year happened to be the one that we had a free agent bail on us, so we're super wary now.
