    You're missing my point.

He wanted $50 million in the bank. He's not "worried" about anything when you hit that stratosphere but he's gotta be slightly pissed.

    $33 million is a lot.

It's not $50 million. Not that anyone is crying for him.

Look, I don't give a shit about Bell's wealth but he left a ton of money on the table that as an aging RB he won't ever get back.

    He got some guaranteed money.

Not nearly what he thought and his strategy blew up on him.

This whole thing definitely blew up on him, but 33M guaranteed is still great for a RB considering it only takes one wrong hit to end his career and he takes a lot of them.

Assuming he does sign with the Jets, a big "if'' these days, his coming here will automatically make him the biggest personality on the team given his talent and highly publicized holdout. For a young team like the Jets trying to establish their own identity that can be problematic in the same way that OBJ's outsized personality was problematic for the Giants. I hope I'm wrong about him sucking up all the oxygen, but given the Jets history of signing high profile players, I'm skeptical.

I don't get anyone who is against this move....

We have a QB who is super young and extremely inaccurate. He now has maybe the biggest safety net in the league at RB. The best receiving RB in the league... he will get so many easy throws and dump offs to bell and the coverages will be easier for him with LBs and Safeties needing to account for bell. This is probably the best move we could have made to help Darnold outside of a stud Tackle/Lineman.

I know people are high on Anderson/Enunwa but honestly if you arent being a homer we are in the bottom 3rd in the league (maybe bottom 5) as far as weapons and skill players with a QB who early on hasnt been/wont be accurate.

we NEEDED an elite pass catching back or tight end in the worst way.... and on top of it bell has shown he can handle 300 caries and get it done on third downs and in the red zone

But is Darnold still a more punchable Dalton?

    would you prefer super inaccurate?

He was 31st out of 33 qualified players in completion percentage (57.7%) and was second in the NFL in interceptions (1 off leading the league) and had the highest interceptions per attempt rate in the NFL (1 every 26 pass attempts).

I'm really not sure what the "lol" is for... he was extremely inaccurate.

Newsflash, most young rookie QB's tend to be inaccurate in their first year. If he's inaccurate in his 3rd/4th year, that's another discussion.

    Hence, the "lol"

I'm not sure if anybody pointed it out yet, but there are some incentives in this deal. It could reach up to $61m (15m/year) if they are all met.

He turned down 14.5 million to get 30 plus million in guaranteed money. He left nothing on the table.

Probably performance bonuses that will be worth it if he meets them.

I don't believe the news about what the Steelers were offering being larger than what he got with the Jets. I feel like those rumors are like the "$300 million" contract Bryce Harper turned down from the Nationals - the present day value of the contract was nothing like the article title.

We all know NFL contracts are totally f*cked in comparison to other sports and that the teams have the players by the short hairs on the whole. What I didn't know was that the Steelers have system that only their organization uses when it comes to paying players, and it makes things even worse for their players specifically - to the point that it's the main reason they lost both Brown and Bell now. I had no idea about this organizational policy in Pittsburgh.

Good. Something tells me Bell is a guy who performs better with incentives.
    Let’s hope he hits them.

The Steelers press reports of the "Huge" contract offer they gave to Bell was nothing but complete BS. The Steelers didn't even offer him 17 million in guarantees, they offered him 10. They were rolling bonuses that depended on them not cutting him to get to the 17. In reality the best deal the Steelers gave Bell was the 14.5 guaranteed for playing on the tag.

He's a workhorse and productive. He blocks, he runs inside and outside and he can be both a safety valve and a deep threat lined up wide against a CB.

He's the best all around back this team has ever had on it. This is a mammoth upgrade at a reasonable cost. The Jets have tons of money and little offensive talent. This is an epic no brainer.
