Thankfully, not every player is mercenary. I still hope that we get Moseley, but I actually respect him more because he obviously isn't just about money. He wants to win. There are no guarantees here. He knows his teammates, his CS, trusts them, is happy there, and maybe his family loves living in that area (if they do). Those things are more important than just $s. After all, there's not that much difference in $11 million in a year and $14 million a year for someone who isn't a spendthrift or all about money. Money can't buy happiness or quality of life. It can help, but it can't do it by itself. If he is investing his money wisely, he'll have a PLENTY of money to spend and enjoy, and his kids will probably never have to work a day in their lives.
We went from "Who are the next 2 FAs we will sign" to "OMG somebody please play for the Jets!!" in less than 24 hours.
It's crazy. Players talk a bunch of crap about coming here and then decide at the last minute that they'd rather eat a cat turd sandwich than play here. I'm not upset about Barr, it's just the repetitive nature of it that makes you wonder. Remember what John Lynch pulled on Herm and the Jets? What a POS. Lynch and Edwards were extremely close friends and Lynch was godfather to Herm's son, for crying out loud. Herm gave him the grand tour, introduced him to Woody the rube, chummy chummy nicey nicey and then after Lynch said he was seriously considering an offer, he backed out and stabbed Herm in the back. What an embarrassment. Anyway, it isn't always bad when players unofficially or somewhat officially renege. I am still beside myself that Sam Darnold is a Jet, but people have to keep it in their sights that Maccagnan had a very serious offer on the table for Cousins. All Cousins had to do was sign on the dotted line. Ugh. Yeah, it worked out in the end, but imagine if Cousins had said yes? The thought of that potential disaster still makes me lose sleep. "Jets fans are committing suicide at the gates of the city!" - Baghdad Bob. The only thing is, it would've been true at Pepsi at The New Dump. So yeah, the Jets landed Darnold but had Cousins signed, that would've been one of the biggest Jets blunders ever with repercussions for years to come (shudders). I am so giddy about Sam, but Maccagnan should never be let off the hook about Cousins.
