People don't want to play here.....that's the issue. Our leaders don't have an identity so it doesn't attract top level talent. Gruden, Zimmer, Belechik, these guys attract players......for us it always comes down to money....until we fix the main issue this will continue to happen. The problem is--all teams have money now so it comes down to where you want to be. This is the harsh truth..... If Gase turns things around and starts winning that will also cure the problem.
Agreed. Plus you have to pay a premium to get a player to come to a losing team. If you were a player, and two teams are offering the same money, you would choose the winning organization. It's more fun to win; there's something going on with that organization which suggests you will develop better (and get more money or have a longer career etc.). Think of what you would choose in your chosen career. So whenever there is a number like a salary cap (and putting aside for the moment the tricks one can play), the fact that everyone has the same cap intrinsically favors the established, winning teams. Loser teams need to spend more to level the field. FA very rarely means steals; it usually means fair value or paying a premium -- each of which hurt your competitiveness. Steals help your competitiveness The way out of the mess is to draft smart and get players who outplay their initial contracts (fingers crossed on guys like Darnold and Adams). If you get enough of those and start winning, then you attract talent. Until then you have guys like Bell saying they wouldn't run with the Jets even for 60 million (his tweet). We sure as shit know if he does end up here it will only be because of the money Mosley wanted to stay with Ravens and we had to seriously outpay (so it's reported) Paradis was down to us, and then got cold feet and re-opened with Denver Barr.... Cousins…. I have no doubt the roster will be better next year, but we are overspending to do so and that's not the recipe for sustained success
Cant deny Mac is shooting his shot All systems go. Sometimes you have to build your success within to win so we gotta win the key positions and not let emotions of some free agents dictate player value
Oh boy, we are back to this self loathing narrative, even though it has never had any basis in reality? for gods sakes, we were the most active team in FA these past couple days.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=1751208 It feels very familiar and it happened 15 years ago...
I can't put this Barr thing on Mac. Barr is the scumbag, he shook our hand, and left us at the altar for Minn who offered the same money. What happens next is critical, and after getting Mosley, this may be a blessing in disguise. Let's see what happens next. Mac is under the spotlight hard now.
According to Yahoos Home Page Mosley Spurned us as well. Maybe FB players are not so dumb after all. U can thank the hiring of Gase for the loss of Mosley. Actually it should blamed on Chris for hiring Gase in the 1st place
