I'd prefer Fowler if given the choice. He is younger and can be here for a while. Plus, I doubt highly he will cost 14 - 16 mil a year. I'd be happy to pay him 9 - 12M per year on a long term deal.
Houston would be a nice addition but I think he'll want to go somewhere that is closer to winning. Also he is 30 and I think except along the oline MacGagnan will focus on younger players. I can see the Jets sign Paradis and Saffold who are 29 and 31 to fortify the line for a year or two and draft a few guys to grow into starters.
I could be wrong here, but why would Houston go after Flowers? I believe Miami is the early favorite for Flowers.
Trade with what??? a draft pick? we have have none to give up... a player??? we have none they would consider as equal value... bruh
I don't think we are in a position where we can/need to trade for them. Of course it would be awesome, but the Jets need to go find that pass rusher at #3 overall. I think that is the most likely scenario. They could possibly look to trade down and still take a pass rusher, but I think the draft is the way they will go for pass rush.
I couldn't agree more. My reference to trading was more so a condemnation of Fowler and how I would explore every option other than paying him 14 to 16 million dollars a year for someone who's track record is extremely underwhelming. I feel the same way about Trey Flowers, I mean he is Leonard Williams with a better supporting cast and coaching. I actually believe that Williams has a higher ceiling and would rather give him the contract over Flowers.
Fowler at that price would be bad news. Having said that, I can't see how he ends up getting that much money.
