He definitely needs a full time babysitter. Hopefully he won't get Shaken Baby Syndromed to death in the process.

Not sure if its necessary to have a WR1 to win a SB.

It is a very team friendly situation. Win-Win situation.

And this is exactly how this is supposed to work.

I like Robby the player, hate Robby the off the field jerk. Don't want to pay him a ton but for an acceptable amount we keep him.

Or we get a second round pick which we don't have and this class is filled with talented WRs.

There is no way we should let Robby go. Him and Darnold were starting to gain chemistry and he finished the year very strong.

Hopefully no team signs him but if they do we need to match any reasonable offer.

  6. Its not really about a WR1.Its about having playmakers who are consistent week to week. Jets have struggled mightily to address this for quite some time.

You cant win w just D & OL.Got to have consistency & big plays in the passing game.In the modern game that means having players who win matchups & produce every week

I didn't say I wanted to win with just OL and DL. What I said was you don't need a #1 WR to win a SB.

I believe the Jets would match. That might even be the plan. There is no urgency for them to sign Anderson long term but if someone signs him to a tender, then the market is set for him and the Jets can match. No one is throwing "stupid money" at Robby Anderson so they aren't worried about losing him.

I think this is a fair assessment. Can't see anyone breaking the bank for him in hopes that we don't match.

Devil's advocate... if you're the Colts with $100 mil to spend, a very good OL, a very good QB, two very good RBs and two solid veteran TEs... do you overpay a bit for Anderson considering WR is one of your biggest needs?

Overpaying a bit versus blowing us out of the water is the tipping point for me.

If we think he's worth in the $3-$4 million range and they come in at $4.25-$5 million then we match.

If they throw out a $9-$10 million number then we don't.

It's the $6-$9 million number being the squirrely part.

Unproven WRs. With the Jets history of drafting in the second round.

The entire point of draft picks is to find playmakers, good players. That's what they're for.

WE ALREADY HAVE THAT IN ROBBY ANDERSON!!! A player they've groomed, watch grow from a undrafted free agent to a dangerous NFL starting WR.

I wouldn't give him up not even for a second round pick.

    Or the Patriots.

They're always loaded with draft picks. They've been looking for a speed demon WR to take the top off of defenses ever since they traded away Randy Moss. They took a chance on Josh Gordon last year. Traded for the little JAG Cooks the year before they traded him away after only one year.

Robby has more talent, upside than both those guys and having worked his way up from undrafted free agent to where he is now obviously the work ethic is there.

    Something that can't be taught/coached.

    And height.

Robby has more upside than Coles had and I loved Coles I hated losing him.

If Robby stays here and Darnold becomes the QB we all hope he becomes or he goes someplace else with a established QB Colts, Patriots, Packers etc. in this modern NFL with these rules he'll put up monster production for years.

You’ve had a lot of bad posts. This one here might be the worst. I think we’ve found it. You’re trolling right?

Josh Gordon hasn't done much in years. Often suspended.

Brandin Cooks very productive, I'm sure he's a good guy, strong work ethic, good teammate but he's a JAG who's been blessed to play with some very talented QBs. He's not very big, not very fast.

Robby with his height and pure speed threatens a defense far more IMO.

Brandin Cooks... averaging 77 receptions, 1150 yards and 7 TDs per season in the 4 years since his rookie year, a span in which he’s missed 0 games ... is totally a JAG. You’re right. Can’t believe I never realized it.

This is a very good point and should be a likely scenario. I'd say we will match as high as 10mil/year to any team that makes an offer.

But bringing up the Colts is interesting because I've always viewed the potential for Robby in comparison to TY Hilton, but just a faster, longer, taller, version. Albeit he's not as strong at the point of contact as TY, but their games could be very reminiscent of each other if Robby can stay out of his own way, and the team actually set him up to succeed. Which success from the team this year would come in the form of just being on the roster, I hope we get to see it.

Noooo way I match $10 mil a year for Robby. That’s way too much. $6-7 at most. Obviously depends on the guarantees and how they are rolled out too.

I think he’s a very poor man’s Hilton. He can take the top off the defense but TY is a much more versatile receiver that can run more routes and do damage in more areas than just one. I think Robby is a great fit there honestly. No clue if they will go after him but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do given the state of their roster and how much space they have.

He’s best suited to be the guy that opens up the field for the legit receivers. Not that he isn’t legit, but he’s a bit of a one trick pony until/unless he bulks up and learns how to hold on to the ball. Not the kind of guy I wanna pay $10 mil a year to.
