Does Darnold give you the confidence that he is the Savior of Jets?

Bills fans referring to Darnold as trash is rich. At least when you call Allen trash there’s a truckload of evidence in tow.

You are as ridiculous as those Bills fans.. Allen is far from trash, and proved it this season.
But keep hanging onto that shrinking narrative for dear life!

It’s only a shrinking narrative if you ignore almost every single statistic pertenent to being an NFL QB.

One of the first posts I made on here was that a full year before the draft, we heard a lot about Josh Allen and his cannon arm, athletic ability and his potential. My season tickets are with Jordan Palmers father-in-law, so I think you could say he knows a little about QB potential than most. Sam raved about him, hardly trash.

Running is no longer relevant, extending plays don't matter, keeping defenses honest on the deep field should be ignored?

You've gone troll on the subject.

After reading this tread from top to bottom I can't help but wonder. Does anyone give two fucks about what Browns and Bill fans think of Sam. Really now? Calling him trash reinforces their massive QB ignorance from two teams that have won even less SB than our shitty old Jets.

I don’t know if those detractors are ignorant, or just desperate for their QB to be the perceived “winner” of the class, even tho that means nothing.

At worst Darnold was a very young rookie in a tough situation that held his own, and got better as the year progressed. He showed he belonged in this league, and that his upside is for real.

Personally I was extremely impressed with how he protected the ball in the pocket, extended plays, and the way he read the field as a rookie.
Only minor criticism is I’d like to see improvement in the deep passing game.

Overall I’m ecstatic and still can’t believe we got him. Certainly looks like he has what it takes to be really good in this league.

Just like there are Jets fans who think Allen and Rosen suck, there are opposing fans who think Darnold sucks (even though most objective observers think Darnold is better than those two). Whereas Mayfield played too well for anyone in his right mind (i.e. not SGB) to say he sucks anymore.

Nice assessment. I think 2-3 years from now he will show everyone that he is a FQB and then some. I believe the QB class of 2018 will be one of the best in years, with likely all five in starting roles for a long time.

Yeah, I felt Sam Darnold was the best and least likely to fail, but the other 4 all have great potential too. With Baker Mayfield, it was proving he could do it against real defenses instead of Big 12 defenses and showing that his size would not be an issue. I think he has already proven both and will be a solid pro. Josh Rosen has all the tools, just needs to stay healthy. He is in a bad spot with his current roster, so he may have it tougher. Josh Allen has a rocket arm, and is pretty athletic, just needs to improve his accuracy. That was mostly the case this season too but if he does that: he could be elite. He proved he was tough as nails too. And Lamar Jackson is a freak of nature at the QB position. Similar to Allen, if he improves his accuracy, he will be tough to stop. In Jackson's case, just a little bit of accuracy and throwing threat will do wonders.

I don't get why some fans try to put down the other QB's, as it does not make their's any better, but I guess that is the world these days. As for Sam, he was everything I wanted and more last season. Besides that Dolphins game, ironically against Adam Gase, he had a great rookie season considering all he had to deal with. I think some fans forget he is 21, because he surely did not act like it. Played like a veteran since Week 1 and improved every week since.

He's special. Really special. I love stats and statistics but he goes beyond rookie stats I dreamed of an offense with Barkley since before the draft. Never imagined Darnold. But we got him. Already my favorite Jets QB since Pennington. Give him the right weapons and he'll become the next Broadway. He's fearless. Isn't scared to make mistakes. Humble in defeat. Has such a high awareness and can naturally avoid pass rushers behind a makeshift offensive line. He throws beautifully while on the run rolling out. He slides. His play action as a rookie was smooth. He can run an offense at the L.O.S. He has the arm to go deep. The accuracy that'll only get better. He's super smart. Rookie mistakes will not break this kid he's going to learn from and mold into a machine. Give him Le'Veon Bell and I'm telling you together they can't be stopped it'll open up this offense and strike fear into defenses Le'Veon plus another stud WR and Darnold will light this league up. With the right weapons he's ready to win now.

Can't help but feel you are building yourself up for some huge disappointment next season, give it one more and come back in 21/20 and it may well be time to go large then :)

Unless the Jets can trade for a top-5 QB, Darnold is definitely the best shot that we have to see a Jets SB victory in the next decade. (Crossing fingers and knocking on wood about his development and avoiding injuries.)

I like this! Too bad the season is a whole lot longer than six minutes and thirty-four seconds. Hoping for at least fifteen minutes of highlights next season.

As the poster above said, let's hope for a nice longer highlight real next season lol

Thought in that small snippet you do see the connection starting with number 11 :)

It’s a highlight reel for a 21 year old rookie aimed at folks with short attention spans.

I’m sure they could have done a half hour but who would watch it (other than me).

I think it was a well put together nice crisp compilation of the high points in his rookie year. The draft lead-in set the tone nicely.

Next year it will have playoff highlights.

I posted that video in another thread sometime back minus the goddamn annoying mix tape. Why is it that almost every time you look at highlights it's bep beddi bep deh eh bep beddi bep de eh. Just show me the fckn tape and shut up already. I'll give you five bucks to either have regular audio or radio silence.
