I think the fans need to boycott the NFL games on TV until the NFL donates $80MM to St. Jude's Hospital for Children. I wish I had the time to organize this but someone should. If the NFL is willing to be extorted then it should be balanced. Kaepernick, walked away from his contract and read the market wrong and then was able to extort money from a loser like $40MM a year Roger Goddell.
I actually give money to St. Jude's. Great cause. Kaepernick didn't walk away from his contract. He was offered the option to opt out or be cut. He opted out to make himself available on the open market sooner. You don't understand one basic fact of NFL contracts, they aren't guaranteed.
I've had threads about ex-Jets moved, moderated and edited...and this sits here? I want an investigation!
Please give a source. I've heard numerous rumors being posted as facts lately on here. Personally, I would really like the rule to come back about having to source claims on here when starting new threads.
Kaepernick should get every single dollar he possibly could. There’s clear evidence of collusion which means he was cheated out of money. He’s not a starter but at the very least he would have made $30-40 mil as a backup for the rest of his career with a probably starter role at one point. I don’t even like Kap, but I’m firmly on his side on this one. Also maybe be mad at the NFL for colluding instead of Kaepernick and Reid getting $80 mil (reportedly)
Why do a bunch of billionaires run scared anytime someone mentions a lawsuit? This and the concussion stuff. It would seem that with all the money they have they can afford the best lawyers money can buy to fight these people in court, hire experts to disprove the claims these people make. Instead they cave in, get extorted, make changes to the game that are ruining the sport. It makes no sense to.me.
Its the collaterol damage.Legal fees, bad PR, time & resources.. And no matter how much legal infrastructure/elite counsel/experts you can conjure up you still have to settle on one trial attorney & even the best trial attorneys fall victim to screwy jurys, mistrials & the like. Its an expensive crapshoot proposition on its best day
There was a report the other day that there's speculation that Kap got 60 to 80 million. This thread is fake news.
There was clearly no evidence of collusion, actually clear evidence that there was no collusion but the NFL has bounced back since Kaepernick’s obvious “look at me” stunt and they just needed it to go away. Write a check, problem solved. They were never guilty of anything but it’s the cost of doing business.
I would guess the NFL was worried less about the money they would have lost at trial and more about all their emails and texts going public. Revealing their texts could have done serious financial and public relation damage. Nice to see the NFL which hides behind the best lawyers anyone can buy finally back down. Seeing the NFL which never backs down tells us how bad a position they were really in.
So you think they settled in a case where they did nothing wrong just so that it would go further away than it already was? Hmm....
