I'm glad Williams is here... he balanced out the Gase hire and immediately made us a better team the second he put pen to paper... but I don't doubt for even one second that he took this job with the goal of getting an HC job next year. All he needs is a good season with us and he's going to get interviews.
I love the Williams hire. Just hope he wasn't undercut by Gase on the staff brought in. We don't want him and Gase butting heads, and angling for each others jobs, like the Browns staff last year. I initially found it unusual not too many of Williams guys were hired. Just realizing Dennard Wilson worked with Williams with the Rams though, so retaining him makes more sense now.
This is likely the most excited ive been for a New CS.Theres a great mixture of new & old school w some name quality at several spots incl. OLB,DBs,RB & OL. Which is before even considering Williams or Boyer. If this staff can come together & co exist w all the egos..im confident in saying this is the best staff since early in the Parcells regime. If Williams moves on to a HC gig( im skeptical given hes already been a HC twice & bounty gate) both Vitt & Wilson likely have the chops to step in w little transition; perhaps even Williams son. Make no mistake this is big boy football
It's a solid staff, but what matters most is how Gase and Darnold work together. If Darnold becomes a top 10 QB under Gase, we're going to win a lot of games going forward. If Darnold is the next Tannehill, we're going to suck no matter how good the staff is.
Somebody let me know when its time to get excited or upset.. Right now, I'm what they used to catagorize as "non-plussed".
Pretty sure he turned down 8 head coaching job offers, including the Jets, to take this Defensive Coordinator position.........
He seemed to like ex players, giving guys who have paid their dues a shot to move up(just like him) but i think he bought into the narrative “none one will come here” as clearly dispelled by the staff gase just put together. Boyer,Wilson & Dennison were his best gets. 2 of which are still here.I wouldnt mind Morton being here as WR coach instead of Jefferson. He seemed he wouldve fit right in w his aggressive attitude.
SNY of all places with a very nice review on the coaching staff "Breaking down the Jets newly-announced 2019 coaching staff Adam Gase's staff features an interesting web of connections" https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/breaking-down-the-jets-newly-announced-2019-coaching-staff/303728130
Look how far we’ve come. If this was Bowles staf lsst year there’s 4 or 5 guys who could of taking over as head coach. Thats a good indication of how much experience on this staff. Great job tsking your time putting this together Coach. I like it
