I don't know what first round pick the Knicks got because the Mavs traded their pick to the Hawks in that Donicic / Trae Young deal. This team is going to be awful to end the year, but thats OK.

I hope so. The ESPN article I read stated the Mavs were trying to obtain a 1st rounder to include in the deal. Most importantly they have $74 million in cap space next year — two max players.

KD, Kyrie, Kawhi, or Klay. They need to land two of them to make this worth it. I loved KP but the dude could never stay healthy and it seems that he didn't want to be here anyways.

you people realize that even if the knicks somehow end up with the worst record with Jordan and Matthews likely starting (and without our tank commander THJ), we only have a 14% shot at Zion right?

    C: Porzingis.
    PF: Zion.
    SF: Durant.
    PG: Irving.

2G or no 2G, championship roster right there?

They didn't trade Dolan, so what makes anyone think anything will change?

I have mixed feelings about Porzingis. Where does a guy who has accomplished little or nothing in the league and is currently rehabbing ACL surgery get off in making a trade demand? On the other hand, he may have seen what a lot of us have already seen: nothing will change as long as Dolan is pulling the strings, and his best career move is to get out while he can.

Even if the Knicks get a good haul in this trade, do you really trust Dolan and his henchmen to maximize it? Cap space is nice, but do you really think first-rate free agents want to come to a franchise with this kind of owner, perpetual dysfunction and a losing culture? Put it another way, the free agents who will come here are the ones who come only for the money, and are those the guys you really want anyway? The first-rate free agents will simply use the Knicks as leverage to get more money from the teams they really want to play for.

I’m more worried that they strike out in free agency

THIS -------PS Porzingis is a douche and so is his brother. The Knicks had to trade him after today. Not sure which is worse --> Having Dolan for an owner or the Johnsons as they all suck

I can't be mad at trading Porzingis.

I love his talent, but I never bought that he was going to stay healthy longterm.

The good or bad of this depends on things breaking their way and honestly that probably won’t happen. lol

I’m not gonna think myself into a rage. Honestly KP has been a pain in the ass. Always hurt & complaining when he hasn’t proven anything. Still the best player we’ve drafted since Patrick on a rookie contract. They are gonna looks so foolish if some big times players don’t come here. Though what else is new? Foolish is the Knicks middle name.

Odds are these max guys aren’t gonna wanna come here. The team has been unlucky getting the #1 slot in the lottery but F-it roll the dice.

My daughter is 50% Latvian and my wife and her entire family are 100% Latvian. This is a sad day for me as an NYK fan. When Porzingis were healthy win or lose me, my daughter, her grandmother and my wife would watch every basketball gm on the big screen. Really going to miss K.P and the memories he brought my family.

Jannis (his brother) and Melo have definitely instilled the wrong values into his head as a young player. Jannis especially is a huge prick, a know-it-all that demands KP uses him as a trainer when it should be with professionals.

As someone else said " IF " the Knicks don't sign any big name players and IMO they need at least 2 then today is a real bad day all around for the Knicks.

Knowing the Knicks luck they would get the #5 after having the worst record in the league. I'm terrified that the Knicks are about to do something stupid... but Davis is a proven top tier talent, while who really knows with Zion or anybody else in the top 3.

    The official trade was:

    Knicks get:

    Matthews
    Deandre Jordan
    Smith Jr
    2021 unprotected 1st
    2023 protected 1st

    Mavs get:

    Porzingis
    Hardaway
    Burke
    Lee

It's not bad at all, and there is a chance they will flip all of that to the Pelicans plus Kanter and other picks for Davis. Apparently they are already talking to the Knicks again since they acquired those 1sts.

I really like Dennis Smith Jr, he's the guy I wanted in that draft. I hope they hang on to him.

I also feel bad for Timmy.
