If there are a lot of screen passes it will be because Gase called them. Gase= HC/OC/QBC/PLAY CALLER Loggains= COFFEE BOY The only reason I'm positive is because I can't see Gase hiring someone that will be detrimental to the success of the offense. Loggains is obviously a coach that doesn't mind taking a back seat to Gase's system & playcalling. I tell you one thing, he better wipe that pretty boy smile off his face because he will be going up against Williams defense in practice & he'll be eaten alive if he doesn't show some gritt in practices. I guess it's just the face that scares me, he looks like the town preacher or a wedding dress designer rather than football coach. Let's hope his looks are deceiving.
Better yet, does anyone have a link to any report that Gase is going to make Loggains primarily responsible for developing Sam? I mean other than Gase saying he himself-Gase- is going to be primarily responsible for developing Sam. Or, like, one of the main reasons he took the job was to develop a young QB. Looks like he has completely abandoned his initial desire to develop Sam and is handing it over to Loggains. In just 2 short weeks. Seems legit.
Nope. Gase apparently has given all play calling duties over to Loggains. As well as implementing the offensive system that will be run. As well as developing Sam. Looks like GASE is the coffee boy.
Every place I have read says Gase will have 100% control of tutoring Sam, the offense & play calling. Same as he did in Miami.
OC & QBC is just a label given to Loggains. I'm sure Gase told Mac in the interview that he intends to hire Loggains as OC/QBC but he intends to be hands on with Sam & the offense. This isn't a surprise move by Gase. Mac hired him because of his knowledge of offense & his work with QB'S, which was a must have in their search for HC. In an interview Francessa asked him about his roll as head coach & he told him that he was going to be working with Sam & the offense & basically be giving Williams total control of defense. So anyone worried about Loggain taking over....cool your jets, it ain't happening!! All I have heard from Gase is he can't wait to get to work with Sam.
You might as well call him Senior Offensive Assistant because that's what he is effectively. Anyone who thinks he's calling plays or primarily responsible for developing Darnold just hasn't been paying attention.
I really have no opinion on any of the coaching hires after Greg Williams. i am going to trust Gase, he said the one thing he learned from Miami is to take his time in hiring a staff and interview people outside his NFL universe. Greg Williams and the new OL are 2 examples of that. It doesn't mean he can't/won't hire someone familiar like the OC. I am over the coaching and now focusing on who we keep and who we go after in Free agency. I have no interest in the Draft until then. That's just me. Football is over until the start of free agency for me. Its hockey season. F the Pats
I would just love to see one positive thing about Loggains so that there’s some reason to feel like Gase is doing something more than hiring a guy he’s close with and will stay out of the way while he does his thing. Anyone?
Let me chime in here as when we look back at this thread in 3 years I can either laugh or continue crying = I HOPE I am wrong and would luv nothing more than to eat crow and I hope this team wins real soon for its fanbase but already I posted that I feel they really screwed up passing on MM for the HC job and yeah we can all give Gase a chance but I would like to go on record here as saying I hate that he brought his buddy Loggains along = this guy has never done anything positive in his career. Yeah we can all hope this all works out but grandpa used to say " wish in one hand a $H!T in the other "
Some more reading to get you pumped about our new OC/QB coach that will directly impact the development of our second year QB!!! http://www.jetsinsider.com/jets-hire-dowell-loggains-as-offensive-coordinator-qb-coach/
Thank you for sharing. I was much impressed with his responses. Sound honest, very high football IQ and insightful. We will see, but many of the media BS seems to be inaccurate based on his responses.
