Fuck no. He worked with the Jets before. He sucked. HARD. Pass. I am not even a big fan of Rick Dennison, but he is much better than this idiot will ever be.
Nobody is stomping on Sean Payton--on his way to the SB, perhaps No one is crapping on Payton, who was also suspended, and is now a darling in NO possibly en route to the SB. I just heard Boomer on his show saying bounties were "commonplace" in the NFL in the years he played, and continued after he retired.
I'd certainly sign up for this, with Gases QB knowledge and Gug's OL work history, this has POTENTIAL to be a special group. Add that I expect Williams to have the defense foaming at the mouth. Who ever they pick, I'm actually kinda excited about the fresh start with a QB that could grow into one of the leagues top, a coaching staff with a fresh perspective on the offensive side. And crossing my fingers that they don't flub the uni rework!
Can someone knowledgeable on this topic start a thread of like a top 5 OL coach candidate list? This hire to me is going to be more important for us than OC.
I'm not familiar with DeGuglielmo, but something is mighty suspicious if you get fired from a team after drastically improving the offensive line. That seems like a big red flag.
I'm aware he worked with the Jets, I'm also aware of the job he did this year with 2 rookies and a patchwork O line with the colts. Compared to what Dennison did here. Unable to recognize an injured center who couldn't snap a ball or protect the QB. Protecting Darnold has to be this teams first priority. Dennison isn't the answer
He was hired to join McDaniels before McDaniels backed out on the Colts, Reich was stuck with him but wants his own guys. Can't deny the success he had with the Colts. Not alot of options out there. Could see Gase bringing Washburn over from Miami, he had success in Detroit but his line in Miami was ranked 31 St both years he was there
You could've said a similar thing about Dorsey when the Chiefs fired him after he drastically improved their talent level.
Munchak would have been the best hire but Denver snatched him up. Available now, Campen from GB, Strausser and Kugler from Denver, Brown from Arizona, Warhop from Tampa Bay, and Frank Pollack from Cincinnati. Pollack would be a good option
Unfortunately we never had a chance at Munchak. He made the lateral move so that he could be closer to his family according to reports I read.
IMO what the jets need is an OL coach who will be RELEVANT ON DRAFT DAY!!!!! GM Mike McStupid has drafted two TOTAL OL (out of 28 pics) in 4 years and both in round FIVE. Does the jets OL coach even ATTEND the draft and if so why? They cannot keep relying on retreads like Spencer Longs or careers scrubs like Quale and Dozier. OL is where a team plays the most players per snap. McStupid makes sure we annually have one of the worst in the league. I hope Gase recognizes this and makes an argument to McStupid to change this.
While I agree that Dennison is not the answer at OL coach, if Dennison is bad, Jets had better stay the fuck away from that moron Guge. I hear Campen is available. He would be a better option than Guge.
