I'm pretty excited overall. More than anything else in specific I'm eager to see Leo play under this new staff/system. I think there is a chance we may have a "you ain't seen nothin yet" scenario with him this year.
Now I am totally in. .....I thought we were gonna lose him! Joe Boningo of THE FAN is going to love this. He said he was feeling better about Gase especially if we get Williams. Pretty much how I felt & probably half of Jet Nation. Williams will make defensive FA'S want to come play for Williams & the Jets. Adams & the rest of the defense better bring their big boy pads every game for 60 minutes. This is going to be a shock going from Rogers to Williams. Williams will bring out the dawg in these guys.
It is a solid sign but I cannot get excited about the guy. His defense ranked 30th this year? He had couple of solid seasons but not a lot of success seasons. Basically it has to be the right fit at the right time. Is this it? Maybe. We ll see. Gase did not pick him as DC, Mac did.
I was originally against the Gase hire but now that he is happy with just calling the Offensive play,s with Williams on board with defence, I'm coming around to the idea. Just need to see who else we get on the coaching staff.
don't know about you but i'm not overly confident they will get the proper DL personnel for the 4-3. we'll see.
For sure he will have these guys balling. Got real tired of seeing Bowles and Rodgers just standing cadavers. They had no clue on how to make adjustments. Teams got yards when they needed them and they did nothing. I like this hire.
Its much easier finding 4-3 guys versus 3-4. The Jets are already halfway there. Williams would be better with one on one match up's. Anderson would be freed up also. The darkhorse is Shepherd. Maybe Williams can tap into his skills and potential. We know Bowles and Rodger would have never.
Why is it so hard for so many here to report rumors accurately and wait until things are official before claiming they are? How many times have guys who were ready to sign all of a sudden just disappear? Three and a half hours later and Gregg Williams is still not the Jets DC, Kacy Rodgers still is. Having said that, and it appears that all head coaching jobs are about to be filled so he won't be a last minute no show, I believe the talk of trying to cram guys into a certain defense is overblown and though Williams may have a preference for a basic defense he's on record as a guy who mixes things up within the same guy, probably a lot more than many other guys do. This is part of what makes things interesting. Williams defense was 30th. Gases offense was 31st. Both terrible rankings, but good enough to take over the Jets. Feast or famine with this crew.
