Gase-Williams-Boyer is such an intense group of coaches for the offense-defense-ST You want more discipline? You’ll get more discipline...
That's pretty funny - it seems to me the guy making dozens of posts about the hiring of a football coach is the one taking the internet way too seriously.
I've got mixed feeling about it all. I agree that Gase could be good for Darnold and as an offensive manager. Williams is an excellent choice at DC, and Hoyer was a solid choice to retain at ST. We have good coordinators. My main hesitation will still be Gase's ability to be a successful leader and HC. The whole "it's my way or you are out" doesn't work without the track record to show your way is the correct way. Have to have some flexibility, and the ability to inspire players, even when the chips are down. That's what he was missing in Miami. It's so important for Gase to come out and produce right away. There will not be a honeymoon period from this fanbase, this media, or even the players. The choice in coordinators was a good first step tho.
I wonder if Gase not having personel power might help in this regard. IMO he is going to help Mac shape this roster, but I dont think he will be able to pull the BS he did in Miami. He wont be able to cut/trade away anyone he has a disagreement with this time as Mac has control of the roster. I am all for keeping players accountable but if he cant make it work here he will for sure be demoted for a long time. He HAS to make it work.
Why not stop with your bullshit and just take ownership of what you've been doing for days? There are at least 100 people on this site who would tell you that I'm way more a darksider than a homer on here. Like just about everyone else on here who is not happy about the Gase hiring, however, I recognize that constantly complaining about it at this point would only make me look stupid.
It’s just so....whiny. I get that some folks hate the hire, everyone has the right to their own opinion and I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind. It would be fraudulent if me since I initially hated it. But some of these dudes just need to give the constant pissing and moaning a break. It's embarrassing. Or at least it should be.
Gase's tenure at Miami was known for no discipline and players who would not listen. If you want discipline you might want to wait until after Gase is fired. But nice to see Boyer back. Hate to say it but I am really glad that MAC seems to be in full control of not only players but coache hires as I would not trust Gase with any power.
That's the $64 Bazillion question. All eyes should be on Mac from now until after the draft. Let's hope he don't f it up.
Last year was all about the QB for Mac, and ultimately I think he did a good job in that respect. This offseason is arguably even more important for Mac. He's had a lot of input on the coaching staffs, it's time to spend in FA, and he'll need a good draft minus the 2nd round pick. Critical year.
given how many FAs we need to either sign or replace just to have most of a squad does anyone have any figures for how much we expect to have to be able to sign upgrades?
It's hard to say now depending on who they want to bring back.....but one thing I know is if they can get a 2 for Leo Williams they grab it and run like hell with it. Gives them an additional $14 million in cap space in addition to the 2 I believe.....
