This would be a huge move if we got Kubiak + Williams to pair with Gase. It simply is more of a no brainer than Mike McCarthy
Yup. Gase and Kubiak???? Hell no. I prefer our OC have experience with OL/RB. Munchak from Pittsburgh would be ideal.
I doubt that the Broncos will give permission for him to interview for an OC job elsewhere (he is still under contract with them). Reportedly the hangup was that he wanted to bring multiple assistant coaches back from when he was Denver head coach, and I doubt that Gase would agree to that either. Add in that Gase clearly views himself as the offensive brains on his team and I would say this is a non-starter.
Yeah too many cooks. Kubiak is also a QB guy and runs a different offense than Gase. For better or worse, the offense and Darnold's development are Gase's responsibilities. No way in hell do I want Loggains, but a good quality lower-profile assistant (maybe an OL background?) is the best bet here.
I assume Gase will mostly run his own offense and call the plays. He just needs an Offensive Coordinator to help with practices and meetings, but not an OC that will run his own offense. Kubiak would not mix. Plus Kubiak replaced Fox and Gase in Denver. Doubt he would want him even if he wanted to be here.
Why not bring John. DeFilippo in. He won’t be play caller so it would be a qb coach with a bump in authority as oc
Gase ran the Broncos offense for two years and couldn't get it done, Kubiak showed up and won a Super Bowl immediately. Kubiak has 4 Super Bowl rings that I can think of ('94, '97, '98, and 2015), as QB Coach, OC x2, and HC. Wouldn't it make a hell of a lot more sense to have him as the HC and Gase as the OC?
I think that's my point--- How many Super Bowl winning HCs area going to take a coordinator job? Particularly under an HC who hasn't won squat.
1. Wade Phillips's defense won that Super Bowl, not Gary Kubiak's offense. 2. Super Bowls are just about the worst metric for anything. They're super rare and once you separate the contenders from the rest, which contender actually wins the Super Bowl comes down mostly to luck.
Fair enough. I'll spell it out: My point was, this thread is dumb because Kubiak isn't coming here. If he were coming here it would have been as HC, and that ship has sailed. I took your point to be: The Jets already have a HC, so they're not hiring Kubiak for that job. --If your point was otherwise, I apologize for missing it.
