Living down south in Miami, I saw first hand the ups and downs of the Dolphins seasons. My brother in law is a HUGE Dolphins fan and has been his entire life. He was very upset when they fired Gase. Just like us, he is sick of their ownership and the people up top, but he loved Gase.

When this hire happened, he texted me saying "it's an interesting hire for you guys and could be something special with Darnold."

Im going to sit here tonight and look at this with an optimistic point of view. We went out and signed a head coach who has an offensive mind and seems to coach to his QBs strengths.

I will go on record that I am going to hold judgment for now. Instead of eating crow later after bashing this move, if it pans out, I'm going to take the wait and see approach and hope for something special

I mean if Gase ends up a winner here after sucking with Tannehill then you know for sure that Sam Darnold is the franchise QB we have always been looking for.

Plus if he does win itll be great to see Fins tears...otherwise this guy gets fire in 2-3 years

You don’t find that type of speed other than in south Florida.

It’s about the blood or something.

Rollo, what’s your opinion on this hire?

    Letting it sink in?

I think he’s kind of an asshole. I kind of want to like my team and every aspect of it. And if he wins I guess I’ll learn to revere him like they do that asshole up in Foxboro.

He wasn’t in my top 5 choices.

But if he can develop Sam that’s all that matters.

    But still.

He’s an asshole. Don’t really get the appeal.

Maybe he told the Johnson's “you don’t know shit about football”.

And they said “CORRECTAMUNDO, you’re hired”.

You know they’re just going to trash me.

I thought there was a “no bullying” policy here.

And now you’re just inviting it.

    Band yourself.

The positive outlook on Gase's hiring is that in three years (or hopefully less) we'll be looking for his replacement.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

Geez had such high hopes after we rightfully fired Bowles.

Now I’m left with hoping this dude doesn’t burn the house down.

And to quote the Ultimate Mayor, hope is not a strategy.

The proper way to look at this situation (or any situation) is not optimistically or pessimistically, but objectively. The facts are that there's no way to know how this going to turn out, because Gase is a 40 year old with very little coaching experience, no winning playoff experience, and no experience developing a franchise quarterback. The only way to view this is that the Jets are taking a huge gamble on an entirely unproven commodity instead of going with the (virtual) sure-thing with Mccarthy. That is not to say that Mccarthy is guaranteed to win a Superbowl, but he has a long track record of proven success in all the areas that the Jets have been absolutely awful in for the last ~20 years. Its possible that this gamble could pay off. Gase could end up being the next Parcells, but you don't evaluate the merits of a gamble based on how it turns out, but whether or not it was a well-calculated risk. If you call a huge raise to draw to an inside straight that is a terrible play, even if you end up catching a lucky card. Unfortunately our dog shit owners are drawing to an inside straight with Gase and all we can do is hope that they draw a lucky card (for the first time in their NFL lives).

I am NOT a fan of this hire.

being said, here is some more optimism. We just need to post optimistic things we can find in order to vent to this terrible terrible HC decision

Glad to hear this Falco. I'm down in the Keys surrounded by Fish fans. They, to a man, were thrilled when he got canned and have been relentlessly mocking me tonight since we hired him. I'm talking 15 plus buddies that celebrated when he was fired and are now laughing that we hired him. Hope they all turn out to be wrong.

I'll admit, I preferred McCarthy, Rhule, and Monken over him.

That said, Gase is intriguing. Honestly, I'll take a wait and see approach with him.

    At least it wasn't Caldwell.

I am trying hard to be positive about this hire but after watching a 10 sec video of Gase whining i have to ask can we have an official fire Adam Gase thread. I will chip in for the billboard.

I'm tried of pulling at threads to find reason for optimism. With McCarthy we could have been optimistic without having to look past the ring he has. This guy we need a fucking microscope to find hope. That rhymed. But im done with this stuff.
