I still think he is a better coach than given credit w alot of coaching ahead of him..but clearly should stick to coaching.

I'm starting to warm up to this. I'm an optimistic, so maybe that's why, but somehting just feels right about this, even though I did not want it to happen.

We now have an offensive minded coach with a young QB and a ton of cap space. This offense could be very good next year.

I doubt Monken agrees to work for the guy who beat him out for the job, esp since they are both offensive guys.

Walter at Walter football didn't love this hire.
[IMG] Rams hire HC Sean McVay: C- Grade
The worst thing you can do to a bad situation is overreact by going the other way too much. That's exactly what the Rams are doing with this hire. They've employed Jeff Fisher for far too long, as Fisher was a tired coach with no new ideas. In fact, he was so bad that it appeared as though he was intentionally trying to sabotage the Rams. By 2016, he was so worn out that he didn't bother watching film, as evidenced by his press conference in which he said Danny Woodhead was a play-maker for the Patriots. The Rams fired Fisher, and so they went from an old coach to the youngest one ever. Sean McVay, former offensive coordinator for the Redskins, turns 31 in a couple of weeks.

I think this is a mistake. While McVay certainly has more upside than Fisher, it's unlikely that he'll get some of the Ram veterans to listen to him. Some are about as old as he is; some even older. The Rams are comprised of a bunch of lazy players who need to be motivated, and I'm not sure they'll be willing to listen to someone in their age group.

The one positive about McVay is his brilliant offensive mind. It'll be nice to have someone who, unlike Fisher, is actually innovative, but the problem is that it probably won't matter. Jared Goof is a lost cause. Everyone, including some in the Rams' organization, had Carson Wentz ranked ahead of Goof. I'm sure McVay will get the most out of him, and Goof won't be a complete abomination, but sometimes, a quarterback is an unsalvageable sunk cost, and that's what the Rams have. Then again, the Rams are an unsalvageable sunk cost themselves, so all of this is probably irrelevant.

I know it's controversial but I used to like Mike Maccagnan. Now I'm done.

Agreed, as long as we have strong depth on the line it should work out. Lee will move to a more natural position as well. The one he played at Ohio State.

Where is the factual support for the claim that Gase is an offensive whiz? What QBs did he improve? What a stupid fucking franchise!

I'm not thrilled about the hire, but I'll give Gase a chance. Maybe he has learned and changed from his Miami days. It is encouraging that Darnold himself is ok with Gase. Nothing about his resume screamed "Hire him!!" to me and there were other candidates who had accomplishments they could point to. We'll see what happens.

    Tannerhill regressed tremendously under Gase.
Gase should have shut him down when he injured his ACL, instead played him and it worsened before finally rupturing.
I hope he can develop Darnold but can you name 1 QB that Gase has Developed?
Fitz and McCown had career years under Bowles, like Cutler and Manning under Gase. Neither had anything to do with their development. Gase is no QB wisperer

Good thing for Jets is they have a lot of LB that they can use. I believe Luvu and Copeland can play both weakside and middle linebackers.

Williamson should be a shoe in for Mike position and Jenkins can transition to Sam.

That is if we get a decent DC, god I hope it’s not Vance Joseph!
