Not surprising really. All Gase had to tell Johnson is that he could run the play he ran against the Pat's to end the game every week...
No, we were very transparent about the kind of experience we wanted, and that’s why Mcarthy was my pick.
You guys gave me so much shit for getting mad they passed on Kingsbury. They went and fucked this up just like I thought. This franchise is now worse than the Browns. 1-15 next year for sure.
Gase had a Bell starter kit in Drake and didn’t use him. Bell would be wasted in Gase’s offense. SRS.
Drake’s a great player but he was a part time back in college.....he can’t handle the load for a season although I agree they didn’t use him nearly enough
Who the hell is the "football guy" that was going to overrule our new HC in what assistants he could hire? Are they kidding?
For all the people talking about hiring a guy for the future, this was the right move. Do I agree with it, not really, but in reality, it was. Gase is known to be an extremely good coach with young QBs. His development of QBs is well known throughout the league. And apparently Darnold loved him when he spoke with him. If Darnold is the future of this franchise, Gase was the smart move if he can develop him
Listen I am not on board with this move. But the bottom line is organizations are trying to create the Coach/QB connection. Koetter was hired to mentor and coach Jameis to a star solely. Down in Cleveland, Kitchens was kept because of how well him and Mayfield gelled. This is similar. I'm curious about how him and Jamal Adams will be (oooh boy!) Thats maybe why Rhule didn't get the gig. Who were his top assistants going to be? I mentioned likely candidate of Kevin Gilbridge being his OC...they worked together with the Giants. Would the fan base be ok with that combo? I'm not so sure ...and I liked Rhule as a candidate. They wanted to bring in some quality coordinators and Rhule wasn't on board with it.
