That tweet is out of context though. Basically Cimini said Williams' option ups his salary for 2019. Then if he is tagged, it would really jump in 2020. So the Jets will look to extend him at a reasonable price or trade him. All of that seems like common sense to me, so not quite news-worthy.
Did you read the article? cimini is speculating that they will consider shopping him or extending him before he hits f.a. That’s a far cry from jets looking to shop him. My guess is right now they haven’t even considered anything seeing as they don’t have a coach yet.
I wonder if @dmarz45 's GF ended up banging him.. http://forums.theganggreen.com/thre...trying-to-take-my-girlfriend-on-a-date.84306/ . .
He was ranked as an average starter at his position for this last year on PFF. If you can get a 2nd or even a early-mid 3rd for a primarily run stuffing D linemen with an expiring contract then you do it in a heartbeat. Do any of you really want to pay significant money to Leo? That would be disastrous. We can find a serviceable replacement late in the draft or in free agency
My only concern would be if the new coach actually uses a defense that suits him. Although this is all just too early guess work. I'm sure new coach will have some say.
Maybe I am in the minority but I agree with you as Williams is NOT a bust but he has not lived up to the hype. Is he out of position or will he do better under a different coach and scheme remains to be seen but I would not give Williams a big contract.
This is purely a speculation by the NY media. First off, I would think before Mac starts making any significant moves, unless this leadership is completely brain dead, they should select a new HC and getting him involved with which players he wants to keep to build the foundation for the new regime. IMO. Calling anyone a bust, especially Williams, under the pathetic defensive schemes from Todd and arguably one of the worst DC ever in KR is simply laughable.
Absolutely we should be doing this. He is not a big enough impact player to pay. Don't want to waste resources on him when they can be better allocated elsewhere on more impactful positions, on players who actually have large effects on outcomes of games He ain't Aaron Donald folks He's a slightly better Marvin Washington
I don't specifically watch Leonard every play but I didn't think he played that bad. The rest of the line blows so I feel like he took on a lot of double teams. I hope we sign him to a new deal honestly, the last thing we need is to make more holes to fill in FA. Don't break the bank but offer him decent starter money on a longer deal, he's still really young. Don't want him being the next snacks Harrison
The new HC should be too preoccupied with getting us an explosive offense for a change to worry about defensive schemes..hopefully We need a much needed 180 in the coaching philosophy..let the DC do this sh^t
