How would I call you? Are the mods phone numbers listed somewhere? If so, I'm calling the Cman feller.
I found the tweet and added it to the OP, here it is. This is not an officially confirmed source so keep that in mind.
I can't speak for the others, but I would hate it for a couple of reasons. One, I love the green and white, although would prefer the Kelly Green over the darker Forest Green. Two, I think using black is trite and/or passé. So many teams have done that. It's boring and ugly.
Don't know my big brother. I don't hate Green and Black. I think it might be a good combo. Want to see what they come up with. I might hate it but I am not categorically against it.
Because black is not a Jets color and the black trend has long since passed. If they want to use it as a trim as they did 1990-1997, fine. But I don't want it to be a major part of our new look
I'll wait and see, too, but I don't think black and green look good together, but I may be scarred from a NYC experience. At some point in my first or second year in NYC, I went to catch the subway one night at a fairly isolated subway station. I needed to get on at the front of the train, so walked up the platform. I met a homeless man walking from that direction. When I got up towards the end of the platform, there was a big turd that was black on the outside, and emerald green on the inside. True story. I don't know what that homeless man had eaten or what was wrong with him, but to this day, I can still see that turd in my mind's eye. If the Jets unis are black and kelly green, I think I'd see that turd every time I saw those unis.
Nothing specific has been confirmed officially. We know that the change process began in 2014, which is the NFL mandated timeframe for a change in color scheme. So there’s that. Other than that, an NYJ PR operation has tweeted out teases for the 2019 uniform based on the 2018 practice jersey for QBs which was changed from red / white #s to black / green #s. The Art Director at the NFL said “it was really essential to create something new for the Jets; it’s such a bold change.” The Brand Director at the NFL said “You don’t do this very often; I can’t remember in my lifetime the Jets making a change - anything - like this. I think everyone is really pumped for this uniform design. I think when fans see this they’re going to be super exited, they’re going to relate to it, they’re going to feel like this is what the modern jets brand is and feels really right for today.” Reading into that, there’s no way the uniforms will not be a significant departure from anything we have seen. I would be surprised to see any derivative elements (any current or past logos for ex) based on these comments, except for retention of GREEN. I would expect to see something that has the textural contrast between matte and gloss or metallic and/or other texture/patterning elements that adds a new dimension or wrinkle to the standard use of color and logo / wordmark. I would be shocked if the redesign is just colors and logo but based on the old standards - standard and consistent helmet/face mask gloss, standard helmet and uniform stripes, block shaped numbers. If the redesign doesn’t exceed what the browns and Vikings did (especially concerning adding matte finish to the helmet) and at least match what Seattle did 7 years ago, I will also be shocked.
^ makes sweeping generalization about a city of 8,000,000 (and obviously you ain't been to 'chic black' Paris). Yes, NYC's often been described as "so boring, so bleak and so dreary." Open mouth, insert keyboard. .
I loved the way the QB black jerseys looked. I’m totally down with replacing white with black and going more Kelly green. Looking forward to seeing these.
The Celtics now have green and black alternates. They look like ass, but they're the Celtics. Not sure the Jets can pull it off. And it looks like ass.
Awful. Was so happy to see OSU in their traditional red silver and white unis the other night. The black version looks like...ass.
Jaguars Vikings Lions The franchises control this. Nike won't destroy the uniforms if they don't let them
