You kenew exactly who I meant. Webb led the practice squad, the FO and coaching staff saw him on a near daily basis. He was also getting plenty of reps when Darnold was injured I'm sure the Jets have seen where he's at. Us fans dont have a clue but don't think Mac and Chris Johnson don't. The truth is, fans are clueless about what goes on inside the organization. The bottom line is teams are evaluating players daily and play the best players. They won't play lesser players so us fans can determine if we think they are good or not.
Again several legit starters , 2 super bowl winning QBs in the list of available FAs and a handful who are as good or better than any QB we have had in a decade. The FA QB market is actually very strong for backups. Only 2 maybe 3 if your in need of a full time starter.
I'd say there's no shot whatsoever that Flacco or Tannehill go anywhere they don't have a chance to be the starter on opening day. Siemian can barely play. I'd be fine going into 2019 with Taylor as the buqb.
We need a good veteran backup. There's been tons of examples as to why but things can change in an instant. Hostetler, Foles, Steve Young, Doug Williams etc Can you get away paying a trash backup nothing and just cross your fingers? Sure, but I don't want to go in that direction. Always have to have a sound plan B I would look into Tyrod Taylor, Trevor Siemian, and even Fitzpatrick as a 2019 backup option All else fails try to coax McCown out for 1 more year
No, I wasn't sure. That's why I asked. There are a number of QBs in the NFL whom I have never heard of before. When I hear their names, I am always surprised. I thought that maybe "Fowles" was one of those guys. I also think I remember a QB a year or so ago whose last name was "Fowkes" or "Foukes" or something like that. For all I knew, it could have been him. Nick Foles is in the news enough and has been discussed enough on this forum that it's hard for me to understand how anyone could misspell his name. In addition, you usually are on top of things and I don't recall ever seeing you misspell a word or someone's name before. So, I wasn't sure and wasn't trying to be a smart ass.
That's what his option is should the Eagles retain him. The further the Eagles go this postseason the higher is value will climb. Could see the Giants, Washington, Jags , maybe even Miami getting into a bidding war for him.
Saw a great meme--he's on the sideline phone with his wife: "Hey, hon, cancel the vacation, it's happening again."
I'd like McCown for another year working with our young QBs. Ideally Webb can step up and show he can be the backup going forward as well. If not they gotta replace him.
Lets not go crazy with some of the names. Nick Foles days of playing back up are over. He deserves to start somewhere and he will. I will not entertain paying Flacco a huge salary to be a back up. Invest the money first and foremost on players that will make this team better and can start on day one. There will be plenty of opportunities to find a reasonable back up. If Sam goes down the season is lost in my view. I want $$$ going to an improved OL that mitigates that possibility to zilch.
