Christ.... Why is it so hard for everyone to stick to football? That is why we are all here right? Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
Racism is and always will be in every culture. If you doubt that then you need to review how different cultures are inherently racist. And American has been and still is racially divided since slavery. The only a fool would think otherwise and point to 2019 as some epiphany.
Very very interesting discussion that Fatcessa had today with Pete Schrager (NFL Network and Fox). Schrager said he's been following and talking to Kingsbury for a while and is talking to folks in the league and said he's is the guy EVERYONE is calling to help out with their offense. Said both Andy Reid and McVay had him come in last year for lengthy visits and said "open up your notebook and teach us" for Mahomes and Goff. Said folks are gushing about his innovative offensive mind. Said you couple him with a Pagano or a Jack Del Rio or a solid solid D coordinator (Williams?) and get out of their way and he could be an incredible coach. Also said Mayfield LOVES Kitchens and because things went so well this year and how much Mayfield has taken over ownership of the locker room he's not sure the Browns will want to start over a new with McCarthy. Also said Bowles and Mac did not get together at all and leaks in the room (probably from the coordinators or other coaches--never Bowles) really soured the relationship. Interesting that Bowles wanted Kamara and Mac wanted Stewart (ouch). Also said Gase is a good coach but literally does not give a fuck--said if you hire him it's Adam Gase's world and you're just living in it. Said he forced himself out in Miami by telling Ross it was his way or else and that he'll just go get a job somewhere else. Said they had no intention of firing him and he basically fired them Not sure an owner like CJ would like that.
Don't change the subject.... In case you didn't get the memo, we aren't a football board anymore.... Lol Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
No, that's not right. You're not just throwing a bone to a minority group and hoping that all the problems disappear. Sorry, but that's ridiculous. The stuff you're saying is akin to what was said during civil rights issues and de-segregation in the '60s and '70s. One cannot legislate morality or fix damaged hearts and minds with legislation, but you can protect and help those who are being discriminated against. Legislation or rules like the Rooney rule are in line with our Bill of Rights, Constitution and the very ideals that our country was founded upon. The shame is that legislations and rules like that have to be added because of the blindness, ignorance and evil in people's hearts, minds and souls. Everything you've said is utter nonsense. I'm sorry that you're so ignorant on these issues. No roles or narratives have flipped.
Sorry, but the wall is to keep out illegal immigrants who are coming here committing large amounts of crime, smuggling drugs, are getting free benefits paid by you and I, among other things. There are tons and tons of Latin Americans in the United States who came here legally. No one on the right has an issue with such people. Last I checked, Trump has pulled troops out of Syria and is trying his best to bring more home. The war machine has been enriching politicians on both the left and the right. We have idiots on both sides crying because Trump is pulling troops out of Syria. I'm not sure what suppressing minority voters even means, because people want voter ID? Because black people are too stupid to get an ID when the vast majority already have one? Give me a break. The problem with this is when your major faces of the democratic party are hypocrites who vastly support the polities of the far left. Same goes with the mainstream media. Today we had Elizabeth Warren talking about how there are 7K gov't employees out of work in Massachusetts, so as a result she's going to donate her paycheck to refugees! Everything democrats are doing is showing time and time again that they care more about illegal immigrants aka their largest growing voting block (because we know that there are tons of illegal voters) than actual citizens. Why? Because they lost working class whites, so they need to replace them. Meanwhile, Trump is called a racist when it's complete bs and no one ever said that about him until 2016. On the other hand, Obama was the most racist president in recent history and reignited the race war between whites and blacks that had kind of settled down in the late 90s into the early 2000s.
Exactly. That's why laws and rules have to be put into place to protect those discriminated against and to try to limit or prevent such discrimination as much as possible.
Im alot of things but im far from ignorant.I see a problem bigger than haves & have nots.I also see it as a problem on all sides that affects all of us. Its bigger than just aiding victims & putting out fires.
Holy fuck--I missed the last few pages. What the fuck is going on here? It's like liberals and conservatives going to thanksgiving dinner together. You guys suck. Hey @Brook! you getting all this? No longer a Jets board. Seriously, what the actual fuck.
It's problematic. When a class of citizens were discriminated against it benefited another class of citizens. I don't see white guys claiming their families benefited from them getting to the front of the line as handouts when blacks were routinely being discriminated against. The Rooney rule FYI wasn't a bone to minorities. It was a calculated effort by the NFL to maintain their anti-trust exemption. It was negotiated with the players Union a requirement to maintain that exemption. It benefited the owners tremendously. The Rooney rule does a lot of things. By requiring interviews it opens up more opportunity for more coaches. The pool has effectively been enlarged a good thing for the overall quality of coaching in general. It opens up the coaching ranks down stream and forces coaches who aspire to the next level into preparing themselves for the next level. Why would you aspire to something that was closed to you? That aspiration creates the ability for people to actually prepare and achieve. What's the point of aspiring to something and achieving the ability to get there if the door is closed? There's no perfect way to open the doors of opportunity. Once you have role models and examples of both success and failure it opens the door wider to both sides. You can look at it as a handout or you can look at it as expanding opportunity. Expanding opportunity is in fact more access to some at the expense of others. More access to any one who has been excluded is at the expense of someone else who was formally privileged no matter how you try to solve the issue.
Theres no perfect solution. The rooney rule was a great idea in its infancy. But its served its purpose in this instance. There are now plenty of minority candidates in any coaching search in the league HC or otherwise. This opens a ton of doors for not only current minority coaches but future ones as well. The stigma has been removed.
