I wasn't sure at first but yes the fact McCarthy is coming in for an interview looks pretty promising he's the guy they're focused on. The Harbaughs aren't available apparently. Bring McCarthy in, start assembling a staff, and get ready for FA.
Want to see bummer, watch the board when McCarthy leaves to do other interviews. Going to need nailed shut windows and Prozac around here.
Refresh my memory - how many coaches were hired before the Jets hired Bowles and how many after? Wasn't he one of the last? Of course somebody like John Harbaugh can't interview yet, so there may be reason to delay.
I mean, Rodgers got knocked out in the 1Q and Adams didn't play lol. Not sure that's a good example of who was at fault. I want him or the OC from Tampa. Just get it done so we don't get stuck with Caldwell.
I do feel like the issue with the Packers was talent, not coaching. They have a constant WR carousel. Rodgers has to do almost everything. Even the defense is lackluster and has been bad for a while. They were mediocre this year, but they lost their top 2 skill positions with Montgomery and Jordy Nelson and Graham has been underwhelming. I would be cool with giving McCarthy a shot. It might be the best option out there with experience, and more importantly playoff experience. He seems to comprehend in game adjustments as well based on the many come from behind victories. Regular season: 125–77–2 (.618) Postseason: 10–8 (.556) Career: 135–85–2 (.613)
I don’t remember exactly, at the end it was hire Bowles or wait to talk to Quinn. And that was before the super bowl. All these “don’t let him leave “posts are going to be very disappointed.
Well I can tell them now, he will leave without a contract. He might eventually sign but he isn't signing right away.
I give the board a little more credit than that, we know he has to do multiple interviews as part of his strategy to hike up the price on his new contract.
I dunno about McCarthy. Ok he s a proven coach with good Offensive-mind. But he hasn’t done to well the last couple of years. I am surprise Mac is still at the GM and let alone to pick and interview Coaches is a little discouraging imo. I guess imI would prefer MCarthy as HC as long as we have a new GM or someone else drafting and signing FAs...
The Packers refuse to sign free agents. It’s such a ridiculously stupid organizational stance. I don’t remember the exact stat but there was something significant about the Jimmy Graham signing this last offseason in regards to it being their first FA addition in a while.
“Drafting the right players isn't the problem though for Thompson and the Packers. It's the whole aspect of free agency that would appear to be their weakness. Since Thompson took over in 2005 as general manager, he has signed a total of EIGHT unrestricted free agents that actually played in a game for Green Bay: Ryan Pickett, Charles Woodson, Brandon Chillar, Marquand Manuel, Frank Walker, Adrian Klemm, Ben Taylor, and Jeff Saturday.” “So in Ted Thompson's now 12th year of free agency for the Packers, he has an average of signing ONE unrestricted free agent a year.” Per https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ac...ed-thompsons-policy-handicapped-their-success Props to McCarthy for not strangling this guy
The point I tried to make in numerous other posts. Its a flawed way of running a professional sports franchise. Its taking building through the draft to a ridiculous extreme.
