I read that McCarthy was going to sit out 2019 if the rite coaching job doesn't come up. Being he is visiting with Jets shows he must like something about coaching the jets or he wouldn't even come in for an interview , as it is said he turned down interview with cardinals
well, he should not even take the job unless he has control over personnel. given mac's drafting record, do you want to be the head coach who has no say in whom gets drafted or signed as ufa? do you want to take job where you have no control over what the gm does, but your butt is on the line over the won-loss record? either you report to the gm, or he reports to you, ala , the hoodie in boston. having this setup where both guys report directly to the owner enables the owner to control everything, and the johnsons are not even at jerry jones level. if i was mike mac, i would interview, ask for control and mad money. failing to get both, i would decline and sit back , collect the money gb still owes me, and wait until a better setup presents itself. i forgot who was the poster on this board who wanted to fire mac and bring in john dorsey, but he was right.
I’m truly undecided. I’m not impressed with our current short list and he has an impressive resume Altho I can’t tell if I’m sold on him as much as i am on arod.
I like the point #3--he calls his own plays. Bowles should have called the defense instead of DC Rodgers, and Bowles was too loyal to Rodgers to replace him or take over the defense. One reason Buffalo and their practice squad put up 41 points in the jets' stadium.
Hire him, IMMEDIATELY! There are many, many things he brings to the table as a head coach. But there is one thing he brings, that we have lacked for a long, long time: fear and respect. Mike McCarthy demands both from his players, but he demands both from opposing teams. Him coaching a Jets team, isn't some new clown on the sideline. He's a guy with YEARS of success and experience
Yes. He's a bigtime coach. He's a successful coach. Long term success. Built a great program in Green Bay. Consistent winners. A respected, prepared franchise. If you get him in the building. Don't let him out. I believe we couldn't get Harbaugh to budge, that's why we're so in on McCarthy now. Have him in, have his agent in. And get that contract signed and let's get started on the 2019 offseason ASAP. No time to waste really. Start putting together a staff Don't even let McCarthy get on a plane to Cleveland
I said yes. But if there’s a chance we can persuade Jim Harbaugh to come to jets that’s my preferred choice.
Mc and Mac; or Mick and Mack. Just read a post where the writer used Mac for both of them. That won't work for the next twelve years.
Am I the only one who has some reservations about McCarthy's energy level? He's no Bowles, not even a Caldwell, but he's also no Pete Carroll (whose birth certificate says he the oldest coach in the league.)
