There is no argument for Bowles. Abject failure. I'm torn on Mac. I cannot forgive Stewart, Hansen, Donahue and as much as he was shooting for the moon on Hack--that was his most despicable gamble. Awful. I can forgive Smith and somewhat Mauldin for injuries and Petty was a backup QB that is still kicking around as a backup. I will be eternally grateful for the trade up to get Sam. Even though Adams was the obvious pick he didn't whiff on him and notwithstanding some troll calling Leo fat with a shitty haircut, he was absolutely the right pick. [BTW: what adult really gives a flying fuck about haircuts? Could be a gender dysphoria thing that dude should get checked out.] Love Herndon. Hate Robee the person but he's a player. McGuire, as much as folks hate on him here, he was a freaking 6th rounder and he's scoring TDs and converting 4th downs. Trade up for Shell? Anderson for a 7th? Myers? Let's not forget Lac Edwards--a position that has been barren for years.
Two questions. Where do you rank this roster from 1-32? Disregard coaching. And how much of that is on Mac?
I believe Mac is staying but he's on a very short leash. If this isn't a monumentally better offseason regarding personnel brought into the franchise then he'll be gone. Darnold bought him this year. And you can also say he deserves to have his players see how they perform under a competent coach. Bowles is maybe the worst in the league now that Hue Jackson has been relegated to Bengals mascot being stared down by Mayfield However if the Jets feel they can snag a better GM to pair with (and can work with Harbaugh) by all means thank Mac for Darnold and boot him out the door I think if they were looking for a new GM though you'd be hearing rumblings about it like with Harbaugh, like with Bowles But there's no smoke regarding that.
Sad but true...the Owners are making these changes ...they are like the old German expression "too soon Old ..too late Shmart" Maybe they ask Mac what to do...in that case 3 heads put together yields a 100 (ave) IQ. (..laughing and crying)
Take a read at a lot of my posts over the last year...I think that is exactly what transpired..Bowles had his dirty hands on many moronic decisions imo And dummy MM went along with it
I've been on this message board so long, most of the people on here are probably younger than me now. Firing Maccagnan won't accomplish anything except to send this program back a couple of years at this point. The new GM will want his picks to succeed, etc. It's best to give this guy another year or two and see if we can get some tangible results next year. We have a franchise QB (that he drafted!!!) - give him a chance to close it out. If we still suck next year and the year after, time to move on.
It’s sad but not missing on 1st rounders and not making cap crippling contracts - ie basic shit -!is like 100x better than what we’ve had in the past
The HC better be Harbaugh if that’s the case, who else are Jets going to hire that is worthy of getting keys to kingdom? Shannahan, Harbaugh, Mcarthy are only guys I would give that much power to.
Sure there is, but Tanny had like 3 first round busts in 4 years from early first round picks and it set the franchise back MUCH MUCH MORE than missing on a bunch of 2nds and 3rds. Hitting on first rounders is more critical than the later picks and most GMs can't even do that.
