More than anything, this team needs elite talent. Game changers, on both sides of the ball. Bosa is that, I’m not trading down if he is on the board. I’d be willing to trade down to a qb hungry team once he is off though. Not too far , not out of the top 10-12.

Don't hold your breath that we stay at #3. There's a decent chance they will beat GB, especially since that's our track record: winning meaningless, end of season games and screwing up our draft position. No, I'm not rooting for them to lose, but I would be happiest if they produce a result like yesterday against the Packers and Patriots.

That is exactly right--If we had a competent GM, we could make a trade like the Colts made with the jets last year--move down three spots in round 1 and get more three second round picks. I do not see MacCagnan as that smart. He traded down several times in 2017 and was rightly called out for "trading a quarter for two dimes."

I have a hunch they will beat GB and lose to NE. 5-11 and probably the #5 pick. They won’t land Bosa but will probably get their LT.

I don't see any passrushers hitting the open market they will get tagged by their team. Fowler Meh...

Exactly . However this could be one of those years where you see very little trading up into the top half of round one . Assuming the Jets land around # 5 they can go anywhere from OT to EDGE to CB. They make even take a chance with that Ole Miss WR - his name escapes me at the moment . Looking at what’s available in FA and the fact that the Jets OL as a whole is a creaky, aging, slightly below average unit - I would say LT would be their top priority . I think they’re going to target their pass rushers in FA.

Respect your opinion, but I do not look for the jets to beat the Packers. Shell is likely out and that piece of crap OL due to McCagnan incompetence just got worse. Matthews will likely knock Qvale on his butt all game. Plus, even if the jets get a lead, they will not be ahead at the end of the game. Todd Bowles never had a lead in a game that he could not somehow cough up. It allows Bowles to later mumble " we will have to watch the tape on that."

I keep wondering about that . I’ve been seeing alot of talk on this board about the Jets going after and signing Clowney . Can’t the Texans just tag him ?

Fowler would be a decent signing but more as a 2nd tier guy. He is not a three down player - but shouldn’t expect to be paid like one either.

Mac's an idiot. We definitely need more premium picks this year in the early rounds and this is just the year to do it with a weak top of the draft. He wouldn't know how to cut a good deal to save his life. Another reason to can his ass and get a real top front office mind in here.

He'll have plenty of time to watch all the tape in the world.

Mac’s problem isn’t making deals - the Sheldon trade was logical and the Darnold trade turned out pretty well for the Jets - if Darnold turns out to be what it looks like judging by the last two games . Nobody will even remember those second round picks and who was chosen there . Mac’s problem lies with his drafting abilities in the later rounds. Teams need to hit on those later round picks to have any kind of sustained success. There are only so many first round picks to go around ....

You don't need to tell me as I've been leading the charge on his draft misses for over a year on here. My point was I don't see him being shrewd enough to know how to wheel and deal to turn our premium pick (let's say #3) into several picks in the first and second round.

Thanks to the 49ers' win, the Jets move up to No. 3 in the draft order, per Tankathon.com. The Cards (3-11) and Raiders (3-11) are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

That’s not going to happen in this draft for any team .....there are quality players but no franchise changers - except maybe Bosa . This is a draft where the teams at the top can all go in several directions and the teams in the middle of the pack can get quality players right where they are. I can’t see any team trading multiple picks to move up this year UNLESS say Herbert is there at #5 and a QB needy team is in love with him enough to do that .......Herbert is not any better than last years QB prospects in fact I think he’s quite a drop down . You never know though ..

The Jets would have better luck doing their dealing in the lower rounds say trading up into the second or maybe trading slightly down in the third to get another third . The problem is as we can agree Mac doesn’t exactly inspire confidence with his lower round selections.

Not just the lower rounds but the middle rounds as well. Way too many misses. Yeah any type of extra draft capital in the money rounds(1-3) would be what I'd want to see out of him and I have zero faith in him to make that happen.

I think he's smart enough to make the trade.

Then we just have to instantly fire him and get the new team in place before our next pick.

I’ll tell you what those two third round picks and the pick at the top of the fourth round for the Jets are so important .....that’s where you build a franchise . If they make the right calls they can find a real center, maybe a decent CB or one of those game changing RBs that every other team seems to be able find down there ....... the first round pick - I’d actually prefer he just stay put and don’t screw around . He’ll find a real good player at #4-7 at a position of need . It’s those mid round picks that worry me .....
