Williams says if there is a coaching change he wants out,,,per rotoworld Jets DL Leonard Williams said a coaching change could affect his decision to stay with the Jets. "If there’s a coaching change, that’s going to be basically playing for a whole new team," Williams said. "If I’m going to be playing for a new team here anyway, then it would be the same as playing for a new team somewhere else." The Jets picked up Williams' fifth-year option in April, so he will not have a choice for at least another season, and the Jets could certainly use the franchise tag after that. It is unlikely Williams leaves New York in the near future. Source: New York Daily News
The Jets run defense has fallen off a cliff over the last 2 years and Leo has 15 career sacks. He’s a good player but he isn’t bringing the type of impact you’d expect for what he’s about to get paid. We probably will resign him because we have so much cap space with no one to use it on, but this is not a player that makes or breaks our long term plan. Especially with the direction the league is going.
Oh Leo. What will we do without your 3 sacks a year? Double teamed my ass. I hope we don’t extend this underachiever after this comment.
Proves Bowles is a top man behind the scenes with the players but fuck me Leo look at the performances on the fucking pitch before shitting in your own nest.
It's understandable a new head coach more than likely ain't gonna butter up his fat butt with hidden production garbage when he gets shut out on the stat sheet like Bowels did.
Won’t matter anyway. Jets should sign Lawrence, draft Bosa and then re-sign Snacks. Switch to 4-3, Williams will be an after thought. Edit: A new team? So the players around him don’t matter? Got it.
I like Leonard but he hasn’t performed to what everyone said his potential was. Despite being so mad the Jets drafted him, I was told at the time that he was the most sure thing in the draft. For him to fall on this sword for coach Bowles is crazy. I don’t know how a competitor would get upset when a coach who can’t seem to win more than 5 games a year is rightfully on the hot seat. If he in fact leaves for another team for more money it will not be much of a loss for us.
Who would care - this team will either rise or fall based on the play of Darnold and that's about it. I wonder what percentage of defensive linemen actually live up to the hype? Mind you I would not blame any player for agitating a move away from this franchise
If he continues to underachieve, he will be out quicker than he thinks; and it won't be his choice. Besides, this sounds more like an excuse to get away from the Jets, a team that obviously was not anywhere near the top of his list during draft day.
should've posted the entire article, very much misleading the posters here. I see absolutely nothing wrong with what Leonard said, but of course this fanbase has a knee jerk reaction on everything
He admits in the article hes underachieved & the team has won nothing under Bowles. Why would the team want to commit big $ to an underachieving player who is content playing w a crumby coach & winnning nothing?!
