McDaniels would probably trade Darnold to the Pats and then go back to coaching them when Belichick retires.

Out of the 3 I think Shaw is the most realistic option. I don’t think Harbaugh is leaving and if Riley does leave I would think reuniting with Baker would be ideal.

I could see Shaw being an option and giving serious consideration.

John DeFilippo - Vikings OC and former Eagles QB coach. He was on the team's radar previously and is exactly the sort of offensive coach this team and this QB desperately need...

Thought this was odd, but interesting

There's a multitude of good NFL coaching candidates. If I was hiring, here's what my short list would look like:

    1. Jim Schwartz, PHI DC
    2. Dave Toub, KC ST coach
    3. Kris Richard, DAL DB coach
    4. Matt Eberflus, IND DC
    5. Lincoln Riley, OKLA HC
    6. Jeremy Bates, NYJ OC

This is DeFilippo's first year as an OC and calling plays. I don't think he's anywhere near ready to be a HC. If Bowles lasts another year or so and then is fired, I'd be interested in revisiting DeFilippo, but not right now.

He was on their radar as QB Coach or maybe OC, not HC. There's no way he's ready to be a HC.

There is no set timetable as to when a guy is ready or not. By the end of this season he will have worked with Wentz and Cousins as well of having worked with 2 successful coaches in Pederson and Zimmer. He'll be a hot name, and deservedly so, if the Jets feel he's not ready, someone else will be more than willing to hire him as HC. He's not going anywhere else to be an OC...

At this point I would take the leading Pop Warner coach or a cardboard cut out of someone else over Bowles. Bowles has been awful and it reflects in the team play. Nothing he does says or shows that he can turn it around. To the "the team is overachieving folks". When will that translate into wins and playoff appearances? Bowles seems to be at the Single A level in his development as a coach. I guess he will be at NFL level coach in 7 more years.

Bowles was on no one's radar and the Jets went all in. Why I have no idea. At least DeFillpo has a skill we desperately need. His resume is much more impressive than Bowles. I still believe the Jets panicked and went with Bowels over Dan Quinn.

David Shaw is tempting, but for some reason to me he seems like he's one of those guys that's better off staying in the NCAA

While there may be no "set" timetable, he has far too little experience imo. Developing Sam isn't the only consideration. This is DeFilippo's first year as an OC and first time calling plays. I don't want someone like that as my HC next year. There's nothing that says he's ready for being a HC. Nothing. Just because he has helped develop a QB or two doesn't mean that he has any clue how to be a HC. Just because he's coached under 2 good HCs doesn't mean that he learned that much from them or agrees with their ideas/philosophy. In Philly he was busy trying to develop Wentz and improve Foles. This year in Minny he's busy learning teaching the offense, maybe designing plays, calling plays, help design game plans, etc. and may not have much time to be learning what a HC does. I absolutely do NOT want DeFilippo. In 2-3 years, maybe, in 2019, definitely not.
