The major mistake was settling for Bowles when they clearly wanted Dan Quinn. That should have been the first sign that we were in trouble, but I think most, like myself, were just so happy to see Rex leave that it went somewhat unnoticed.
TBF, he was highly touted by all the "experts", including a big endorsement by Parcells, so there was much hope. But I found it troubling then that the two main candidates were DCs, all but ensuring more of the "Defense wins championships" mindset in an era of high scoring offenses as ordained by the league.
One thing at this point we should realize is that if Parcells is giving it a thumbs up, we should probably look the other way.
Parcells DID turn things around when the team was at a nadir, but he also made a bunch of mistakes that probably cost them at least a SB appearance, of not a trophy. And will we ever know the truth about what happened at the end? Whatever that is, Parcells certainly had a hand in it. I don't know who they should look to hire, but they really need a Pres. of Football Ops to create a blueprint and oversee its execution. I think Holmgren is probably too old, and likely enjoys retirement, but someone like him would be a good choice.
O was run, run between tackles, 3rd and long all game. I mean what the ***** was the game plan? It was laughable.... I know the WR blow and there was hardly any if at all separation but JHC throw the ball, how about a screen pass …. How many times does this CS get out coached? How many... they are predicable, the team is undisciplined. When you see players grandstanding for doing there job and the team is losing there is a serious - serious - problem with the collective mind set of this team. What is truly sad is that this is probably the best this team can play right now....
Have you ever heard any GM, HC, DC...etc speak negatively of another member of the good ole boy network? Mangini was probably the only one and he ended up regretting it!
Today I saw the packers take a kickoff return deep out of the end zone resulting in a fumble which prevented one of the three best QBs in the game from getting the ball back with a chance to win. Are the Packers poorly coached? Serious question. I don’t watch them a lot. But I’d have lost my shit if that was the Jets. So maybe the talent on the roster covers a lot of sins.
No creativity, no balls whatsoever and absolutely no discipline by this team and coaching staff. These assclowns dance around and celebrate like they’ve won the super bowl when they make a stop on 2nd down only to immediately let the Bears pick up the first on 3rd down. This team needs a serious culture change. In all seriousness who are they going to go after to coach the team next year?
That play was a coach killer. The play was to make sure Rodgers gets the ball. But dumbass has no clue of the situation or his role. Details like that don't happen with great coaches usually. Guys like Beli have everything covered.
In an alternate universe, the Jets never sign Parcells, make Belichick coach and draft Peyton Manning 1st overall. Belichick and Manning go on to start a dynasty for the Jets.
