Of course there is talent in all areas. It's an NFL team. Everything is relative, Falco.

I don't mean to be a negative nancy. We both hope for the best. I only balked at your claim that another poster arguing that our roster's overall talent was average at best was "ridiculous." Even if you believe it's wrong, it's in no way ridiculous.

Again, we can go back and forth all night, but again, I was saying it is ridiculous to claim that areas such as WR and RB are either worst in the league or average at best. That's just not true, in my opinion

I completely agree. This team has talent - the talent is young and growing so there will be mistakes and letdowns but we're seeing flashes of what the future holds. Even the much maligned o-line is developing into a more cohesive unit as the season wears on. This team is going to be good. If it doesn't happen this year, next year will bring a legitimate playoff run.

    I would, especially considering Darnold's just tuned 21. . Not 22 or 23, . 21.

There are 31 other QBs - so what would constitute "a lot of other guys" beyond:

    Russell Wilson
    Patrick Mahomes

    Brady who is 41
    Brees who turns 40
    Rivers who turns 37
    Rogers who turns 35

    Watson? Trubiski? Winston? Dalton?

Even including those last 4 that leaves 20 other NFL QBs. . There's "a lot of those 20 other guys" I'd take Darnold over. . Lots.

This is a team in flux. Headed in the right direction, but by no means assured of getting there. There is some talent, most especially Darnold who makes a massive difference even with his inexperience and mistakes. If he's not on this team, they could very easily be winless...I'm not saying they WOULD be winless, but I doubt they would have 3 wins in any case.

Williams and Adams and Lee are making bigger impacts as they should be expected to do; there have been some surprise discoveries like Anderson, Crowell, and Myers; Enunwa is continuing his growth and R. Anderson is making an impact when targeted. The defense is much better when Bowles is running it; Bates has made adjustments and improvements, although he still needs to do better - where the hell is play action in this playbook? So as I said, there is room to hope.

My fear is that they do well enough to justify retaining Bowles. Of course you can argue if they keep improving, why shouldn't they keep Bowles, but frankly I don't think he's the HC that can take them to a SB, let alone win one. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but I think they need to get a HC that can really get Sam to the level he's capable of achieving. In the meantime, winning is much better than losing.

Who we are is a team that finally hit on the most precious commodity. A FQB. We have a few young extremely talented pieces to build from, but we need to fill many holes. It is time to protect our draft picks and make them count. Use free agency to strengthen key positions, but do not trade picks away.

The Jets suck. They should have had 50+ points and blown them out by at least 20. Can't believe they are THAT bad that a garbage time TD made it semi close.

Confused. You say we are untalented and have a bad coaching staff. We sit at 3-3 with a rookie QB, new offense, new o line blocking scheme. How did we win 3 games then?

The sky isn’t falling....we are finally on the right path of rebuilding, consistency, good culture, all with a franchise QB.

This team lacks that big time, game-changing playmaker on both sides of the ball. Until we acquire a true number one receiver and stud pass rusher on the other side, we will continue to mire in inconsistent mediocrity. Every great team in this league has at least one player who can single handedly wreck a game, causing opposing teams to have to rethink their entire game plan. Look at what Mack has done for the Bears.. what Gronk has done for the Patriots for years now.. Jets unfortunately do not have this type of player on either side of the ball

Hopefully they get them this off season.

EDIT: I consider Darnold a "big time playmaker", but he does need help.

I'm looking for that small grain of substance in this comment. Nope...ain't there.
One could argue that is better to suck and win than to excel and loose

I'd say you're jumping the gun a bit there but it was definitely good to see him finally get Kearse involved today.. most dependable WR on this team IMO.

I'd love to see what kind of offers Mac actually served up to the Raiders for Khalil. He was the missing link that we need on this defense, could've completely changed the entire complexion of the team for years to come

I think your looking at a foundation. And a promising one.

From here I think the very rough roadmap is to come up with (and by come up with I mean draft) at least one (preferably two) difference makers on the offensive line. And somehow, however it is accomplished, presumbably in the 2020 draft get a big time playmaker on offense. Some SBarkley/Antonio Brown/Todd Gurley/Randy Moss type guy that is dynamic.

I'm not saying that will be easy or that there is any guarantee that the Jets will successfully do it but I think that's roughly what you have to shoot for. And finding a + pass rusher somehow by magic wouldn't hurt the cause either. Everything else is just trying to tinker, be smart with contracts/free agent signings, and god help us all trust our coaching staff.

From what I heard he offered more than the Bears did, but the Raiders didn't want Mack in the AFC.

Ridiculous statement. I WILL say that the Jets badly need to improve their red zone efficiency in terms of scoring TD's. They are currently at the bottom of the league.

Otherwise this is a very talented team. I do think the Jets staff needs to do a better job of gameplanning and getting IMO the Jets best playmaker in space in Robby Anderson....THOUGH I do feel his slight frame makes him quite easy to take down, still his straight line speed seriously makes him one of the fastest WR's outside of Tyreek Hill. I see there's a few things that Bates is helping Sam do to get the ball out quicker and easier. Quick slants with Q or Kearse are about money. Sam throws a pretty damn good ball which is on the money most of the time. For one, I think it's key the Jets at least bring back 2-3 of the WR's back for Sam's future. Q has been nicked up and hurt so he maybe a risk to bring back, not without having someone like Kearse, who's more reliable and is one of the better possession WR's in the NFL. You don't want to make the mistake of what the Jets did in the past and switched up Sanchez's WR's which may have hurt his development.

On defense getting a pass rusher must be a top priority. You got a pretty damn good core on defense in Big Cat, Lee, Williamson, Adams and Maye. Now get one of these beasts coming out in college, and grab one in FA.
