There were many questions before this season about our offensive line. Although we knew we had a very bright and young core when we drafted D'Brickishaw and Mangold, the O-Line was a question mark.
We knew that D'Brick has the athleticism to be a great LT for years to come, but he's a rookie and LT is probably the hardest position to handle in the O-Line. However, he has definately held his own this season. Although he has showed flashes of inexperience, he is a rookie and I have been pleased.
Mangold came in right away to start in center, and he played like a veteran right away.
Kendall and Moore have been alright as well.
And Then there's Anthony Clement. Before the season, I thought that he would just be a filler for this season, since Adrian Jones did not have success at the RT position, but surprisingly he has been decent. He's been solid really, and let's take today for example. They had KGB and Kampman and held them for Zero sacks.
So the question is, where do you see Clement after this season? Do we upgrade the spot via the draft or free agency, or do you think Mangini will stay pleased with this performance this year and keep him out on the field. next season. Yes I know our runing game has been terrible, but as we saw today and the previous games... it's been picking up progressively. Maybe we just needed this line to gel. Anyways, back at Clement - where do you seen him next year?

back in jets green while we groom a young guy. Hes been more than solid for us and i dont c any need to rip apart this line especially if they continue to gel and improve. Give d-brick a summer in the weight room and mangold a nother year of experience and these guys can be an elite unit

I still think we can stand to upgrade atleast one of the positions on the right side of the OL this off-season. Moore and Clement are both average at best. I don't know if we should look to replace both in one off-season, since line cohesion is so important, but I don't see either as long-term solutions for their position.

I would not be at all surprised to see the Jets draft another O-lineman. But I think they'll hold onto Clement for depth.

I think Moore is a solid guard who simply doesn't get much love. Maybe it's because he used to be in the practice squad, and isn't a big name player, but he 's a solid player. Today was one of his best outings.

Clement has done well enough to keep his spot for next year, but I still see a huge need for a nasty run-blocker at RG and a sooner than later replacement for the ancient Kendall.

I think he is a decent player, and early on in his career I was one of his biggest supporters. But I don't think it is certain he will be a long-term fixture on the line. Although I would say it's far more likely they would try to upgrade over Clement, first.

Regardless, guard will be addressed if not to upgrade from Moore, but to find Kendall's replacement, as I doubt he is here past next season.

It wouldn't be the end of the world if he is starting opening day next year but i have a feeling we will draft someone in the 2nd or 3rd to replace him.

Id like us to continue to build up the o line as our number 1 priority. I'd love to get eric steinbach to take over for Kendall. Then draft a right tackle and gaurd high and mid draft to groom behind clement and moore. There is one thing all the best offenses have...a great o line. It is the key to offensive consistency. You can have some firepower on offense but you will eventually be exploited. On the other end you can make due with mediocre talent with a great oline. How do you explain KC being one of the most poten offenses the last few years with eddie kennison as their number 1 receiver?

the o-line has played well lately, even though its been against weak teams, but i think it would benefit the team to bring in a bigger guy that can help with run blocking.

interesting question. I think we will not trade for a guy or pick up a free agent to replace him because I think continuity is the key to our success. I would not be surprised if we drafted someone though, to replace him down the line, though I think we will more likely draft someone to replace Kendall before we replace Clement. I think he's safe for another year or two, I think he's played well and I think the longer this group stays together the better it will get.

I'm totally pleased with the Oline overall. Some guys here think the Oline has played well lately only because of weak teams, I don't think Chicago & New England are weak teams. As for Clement I think he will be back next year. now he might or could lose his job, but he'll be back. I'm just not sure how the jets are going to draft. Do we need a big Time RB? Do we Go with Oline again? Do we take a DT or OLB? If it were up to me I would go after a playmaking OLB (Shawn Merriman or Demeco Ryans)

He's back next year but the CS will be paying great attention to drafting his successor, as well as someone to fill a G spot which will be vacated sooner, rather than later, by Kendall.

The run game is still a problem and that has to do with the run blocking more than the RB position in my opinion. The pass protection has been great, Penny has all day to pass the ball, run blocking not so much. That has to do with the RT and OG positions.

Kendall is getting old and I have a feeling they will be drafting someone to start grooming to replace him in a year (or even bring in a FA). Moore is an average player and an upgrade wouldn't surprise me, but he would be alright if they had a better RT to put next to him. But Clement is serviceable, he is no where near the player he once was. He is just playing on a good line, so he just looks better than he really is IMO. But if we want the run game to improve, RT needs to be upgraded. I personally think they will keep Clement for depth, but I expect the FO to draft someone on the first day.

Moore is a hold the fort guy. He has had the good fortune of having centers like Mawae and Mangold give him plenty of help.
