Jets cut stewart but he cleared waivers, Jets added him to the PS then put him on IR so now he's basically stashed for next season. not a bad idea and hopefully he can develop since we have 4 WRs on the final year of their deals right now and I assume at least 1 of not 2 won't be back
Yeah this is not very helpfull as players on IR are not allowed to practice with team members. I dont really get this move entirely aside form no one can snatch him up
I know people want to believe that Stewart can be a contributor, and maybe he can be....eventually. But we still need a big time threat. Our WR corp is a group of average to above average players. We need a stud offensive skill player, whether it be a WR, RB or TE. Having a stud out there alleviates pressure and softens coverage for the supporting cast. Without Defenses keying on Julio Jones, or Odell, or Gronk, does the rest of those offensive skill players have as much success? Probably not. I'm not saying we need to go out and sign an overpriced player, but that's something this team has been missing for a LONG time
I think there is about a 1% chance this guy becomes anything. You just have to hope he somehow figures it out. He obviously was regarded as a talented player when he was drafted in the 3rd. Maybe with a new coach in a better system he can turn it around.
Maybe if another team wants to give the kid a shot, the professional thing would be to let him go... are they worried Stewart’s going come back to “haunt” the Jets. Meanwhile he loses a year of his career. Obviously this is all speculation. hr could also be legit injured and the jets are doing him a solid keeping him around to try again next year.
And a great use of 3 and 4th round picks by mike mcIdiot just last year--2 Wrs no longer doing squat for the jets--part of the 2017 draft featuring 4 DBs, 3 receivers and ZERO OL or DL. Dumb shit.
