Maybe it was chad's fault, but couldn't j-slack put in a little more effort into breaking up those int's...the first one he didn't even try...he showed some effort on the second one...but he is showing why he lost his starting job...he'll be gone next year, and we'll be lucky to get a 6th for him.

for his size he does not play hard at all. I will be happy when he loses any of his starting time to Brad Smith, but I have a feeling that will be for next season now.

He's got an attitude problem and he isn't skilled enough to overcome it. If they don't straighten him out by the end of the season then he needs to go somewhere else.

Ehhhh, I didn't see the lack of effort in those plays you did. Those were terrible passes and on the first one he was just plain out of position because the pass was so short.

terrible effort on his part on both of those balls. he really is gutless. the two plays he gets involved in during the second half turn disasterous! cotch or coles break up at least one of those picks at the very least!!!

Amen - Pennington just plain old missed him cuz he definitely had his guy beat. The second one was inexcuseable though - he has to come back to meet the ball.

    Terrible nickname.

I think even Tangini beats this.

    I thought the same thing.

Question. If JMac goes ballistic on a defender catching the ball, using force worthy of penalty in order to break up the INT, what's the worst that can happen? They can't award the DB the INT if he's interfered with, right? I just don't understand why JMac didn't do more.

I believe McCareins lacks two things:

    1. he lacks anticipation: In this season alone, Cotchery showed more of anticipation (of when the ball will be thrown, and where it would be, and where he should be to make the catch.) than JMac did. Hell, he would fight for the ball. (See the TD pass in the second NE game.) Coles? There is a reason why he's Pennington's go-to receiver.

    2. "Will to fight" - I was plainly flabberghasted to see the second pick actually intercepted. I thought JMac would come up with the catch in all seriousness. Then the next thing I know: Pennington threw another pick. I mean, if he is deficient in one area (anticipation) at least he should be willing to throw everything he's got to fight for the ball. He shows none of that in either of the picks. (If you see this year's highlight reels, you will find many occasions where Coles or Cotchery fought for the ball, and got it in the end.)

I think he should be cut by the end of the season. For a record: I've seen him 1) dropping the ball 2) falls on the ground while running his route 3) not anticipate the ball and lastly but not least 4) wouldn't fight for the ball. He's an excess baggage, dead weight - unnecessary personnel at this point.

Wow.....this is amazingly off-based and incorrect. He asked to play special teams, nobody made him. I agree, while it didn't look like he gave all he got in breaking up passed, you can't say he did one way or the other. Every time I hear him talk or hear Mangini or someone talk about him they praise him for his hard work, i guess you didn't watch Jets 24/7 this week. He had the rought start at the beggining of TC, but thats behind him and I expect some decent things from him these last four weeks.

I think him asking to play special teams was a last ditch attempt by him to stay in the team's long term plans. He was in Mangini's dog house from day one, and really hasn't done anything to get himself out. He's probably had a few good weeks of practice, but he hasn't had a big time game, and has had the occasional play like today on the INT. By asking to play ST, he was hoping to make an impression on the staff. I imagine that the front office will look to move him this off-season for a mid-round pick (depending on the cap ramifications.)
