Win, lose or draw i just wanted to point out that it has been nearly a decade since the Jets have drafted a QB in the top 5 and started them from day one. 9 years ago we traded up to the 5th pick to draft Mark Sanchez and started him as a rookie. We had a great O-line a top 5 defense and say what you will about rex, our teams D always played well under him and Sanchez even as a liability took the jets to the AFC Champ game that year and then repeated it in 2010 and then never sniffed the playoffs again. Sam is taking over the jets now and hopefully it turns out better but what a wild ride it would be if he can match that success. Either way it's been a long time coming so enjoy the ride and lets not judge him too much on 1 game.
So stoked for tonight win or lose I just hope Darnold becomes something special. We have put together good teams in the past, but in the modern NFL you need that franchise QB to succeed. Heres to a hopefully exciting new era for this franchise. We should be at least good enough to not be in the AFC East basement this year (LOL Bills).
I will not have a problem with Darnold if he has a so-so or poor performance, I will have a big problem if they are starting him and babying him. If it’s 3rd and 8 I want to see a play to get the first down, if there are 8 men in the box non stop I want to see the ball aired out deep to spread them out. I do not want to see 3 and outs and the coaching staff happy no mistakes were made, we have been playing this way too god dam long. Cut the kid loose the way Shula did in Marino’s rookie year.
I do not expect Darnold to light it up right away, but these are definitely exciting times to be a Jets fan.
the bills are downright awful. they will be in last. miami don't look to good either. we could eaisly finish 2nd in the AFC east but of course that could be with like 6 wins. also rodgers display last night was the thing legends are made of. I see alot of rodgers in darnold. I hope he turns out even half as good. yeah i hope for a few deep balls to go andersons way for sure
lets not overlook the fish though we all know how the team fares at home coming off a huge win ... this will be a big turning point for us. do we come out flat and lay dirty eggs ... or do we come out swinging and put a stamp on it !
Kearse should be back for us which should be a nice help ... lets hope we can generate a pass rush, and keep Wake and Quinn in check !
