    Hi everyone! I'm a Jets fan from Finland. How's everyone doing? Excited for the season I guess.. Anyhow..

    I've been following the NFL for some time now, never really had a favorite team before. My following focused mainly on the East Coast teams due to time difference here in Finland. Games start at 8PM, so it doesn't get too late, as you need to go to work next morning at seven o'clock.
    But then me and my girlfriend were on vacation in the Great City of New York a year ago, (which we fell in love with) and naturally attended a couple of sports events. We went to Madison Square Garden to see the Rangers play, unfortunately no Finnish players on the roster then, but that was really cool place to visit, especially for me because I've followed the NHL practically all my life. As you may know, ice-hockey is the most popular sports in here.

    And of course we went to MetLife to see football. That weekend was the Jets home game, so there was a bit of randomness which team would become my favorite team to follow, God forbid would've it been the Giants, I can't bare the thought :D The game was against the Falcons, so the atmosphere were dampened by the tropical storm that happened to occur just on game day, luckily the game went on regardless... But the stadium was almost empty. Still it was great experience for the both of us, because my girlfriend used to play QB in Finnish women's league back in the day. So she's way more into football than hockey, and she probably knows the intricacies of tactics etc. better than me, but don't tell her that :D We lost the game surprisingly, but nevertheless I was hooked. Then the draft happened and we got Darnold as the savior of the franchise (no pressure kid!) and as I write this, I'm donning the "Darnold 14" jersey, and dream of maybe having a successful team in the near future. And hoisting the Lombardi!

    We've started to save money for our next trip to NY, and most definitely visit to MetLife again, hopefully in better weather than last time. Our goal is to be able to come next year..

    So that's me, I'm gonna be lurking and reading this forum regularly, not sure yet if I have enough knowledge of going-ons on the field, so maybe I don't post that often. But who knows, maybe I offer my two cents worth once in a while, and if I do, don't lynch me outright :D

    JET UP!

    Welcome to the board. I loved your story very much. I was at the same Falcons game. Okay. Now that you are here, please stay and share stories. And next time you make the trip let us know in advance so you can join a tailgate with one of us. FYI, I had plane tickets and hotel reservations for Helsinki for a week this past April but due to new job I had to cancel the whole trip Maybe summer 2019. Take care and enjoy. :)

    So you were a one of few who were there that day :D
    Tailgating, oh yes, that's awesome idea! Absolutely I'll inform when we are coming there, that would be really something if someone could invite us to join them.

    Sorry to hear about the trip. I would maybe recommend to visit later in the summer, in April it tends to be rather cold still.

    One of my very good friends have a restaurant in Helsinki and I was going to attend his wedding. Hence the April. But I hear you, summer is the best time to visit Finland. And I heard about your fancy Saunas and am looking forward to it. :)

    Welcome FJ! It's great to hear of people from other countries support our Jets! Hopefully, 50 years from now you won't look back and wonder what you thinking!:D

    As to posting here, there is no "entrance exam" or credentials required, just passion and - preferably - open-mindedness. Of course if you're posting something you present as fact, then back it up with the evidence, but if it's just your opinion, well all's fair. This is a great place to learn as well, which is one of the main reasons I joined, and have definitely gotten my "money's worth".

    Again, welcome to you and your g.f., and enjoy!

    Welcome, FinnishJet! Welcome to the nuthouse that is being a Jets fan! LOL Great story!

    You might be interested to know that my father (now retired) had his own company and sold drapery and upholstery fabric. He sold drapery fabric woven in Finland, and for 2-3 years straight was one of the top-sellers in the US of that Finnish drapery fabric. As a result, he won a trip to Finland those years and was the guest of the King of Finland at a banquet. He bought a lot of the beautiful Finnish iittala crystal with the red "i", thule bowls, etc. My mom went with him and they loved Finland.

    Again, welcome! I look forward to reading your posts.

    That's nice to hear.. It's nice to see that couple of you guys has some kind of connection to Finland.
    As of Iittala, it's kind of ridiculous how popular Iittala's products are here in Finland. You could walk to almost any household in here, and you'd find some of their's dishes in the cupboard, and that's not even an exaggeration.
    One correction of your post though, we have a President here, not the King unlike the other Nordic nations (Sweden, Norway and Denmark. What's interesting is, if the Germans would have won the WWII, we would have a king, they already named one of their Dukes or something..

    Tervetuloa! My only connection to Finland was many many years ago when I was a struggling teacher in New York City. A foreign language specialist made a presentation at our school on sound methods of teaching foreign languages to kids. His audience was newly assigned teachers like me. The language he chose to make his demonstration was Finnish because he obviously knew the language and was reasonably sure no one else in the room did. He tried out his technique by teaching us Finnish words, all of which I have since forgotten. However, I do hope to make a trip to Scandinavia one day.

    And what’s with all the Allen wrenches?

    It wasn't that good of a technique then :D I've heard many times that Finnish is one of the hardest languages to learn, but what do I know, It's been pretty easy to me :D
    Thanks for the warm welcome in my native tongue.

    My name is Biggs and I'm a Jets fan. I've been an addict since 1965. I thought I could be satisfied with watching the Giants run the ball over and over and over again. Little did I know 3 yards and a cloud of dust would become a gateway drug. One day I tuned into NBC. There was this guy with flowing long hair and white shoes throwing the ball all over the field. I was so disturbed, I talked to a priest about how I was feeling. It got a little creepy and I had to leave the church. The first SB was free. Nothing prepared me for the crash, the endless pain. It destroyed my family, friendships and impacted my work. Monday depressions were dragging into Friday's until eventually I would do anything. I actually convinced myself that Mark Sanchez was a great QB and Rex Ryan was the second coming of Vince Lombardi.

    God, grant me the serenity
    To accept the things I cannot change;
    Courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.

    I moved to Arizona and was doing pretty good until one day I was invited to a Cardinal's game. They had this head coach who said "No risk it no biscuit". Coming from NYC, I didn't really know what that folksy comment meant. I thought it was something toothless Joe's from the Carolina's ate on Sunday morning. I did however start having hot flashes watching Palmer throwing the ball long 25 times a game. The old addiction had started to rear it's ugly head. I wasn't as invested but my pupils were dilated something wicked. (Obscure Pats/Red Sox/Bruins/Celtics reference) The Cardinals finally broke me this offseason with the signing of Sam Bradford and the hiring of Mike McCoy as their OC. Anyone can kick 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

    I'm watching the draft, placing bets on NBA games, drinking Scotch and checking the power ball payout when the Darnold falls to the Jets...

    Hi I'm a Jets Fan.
