when i saw the title of this thread, i thought maybe it was posted by a resident of an insane asylum. then , i remembered that i am a jets fan......
In this episode of dump on Lee guess who played a good game last night. He should be the last person to rag on
He was picked to go in the teens, we got him at 20. No questions and no obvious options back then. He is what he is
People see what the what to see and block every thing else out. How about this for a stat: Leonard Williams drafted higher in the first round ( with the 6th pick) than Darren Lee: 3 years = 12 sacs , 87 Tackles. Shane Ray drafted 23rd : 3 years = 13 sacks = 84 tackles Darron Lee drafted 20th 2 years = 4 sacks 167 Tackles So, Darren bashing committee can say all they want, but there are other serious problems with the team D and Lee is not one of them.
Are you honestly trying to compare a 3-4 DE's tackle totals to a ILBs? Darron Lee was 27th in tackles among LBs last year and 53rd in 2016. Leonard Williams was 27th in tackles last year for d-linemen, 6th in 2016, and 9th in 2015. Leonard Williams is a drastically better d-lineman than Darron Lee is a linebacker. Seriously, how could you think tackle totals is a valid statistic to prove who is worth more to the team?
Leonard Williams needs another player to attract attention from the offensive lines, he's always getting double and triple teamed. Its really a mishandling of personnel acquisition plain and simple. By nature, Ray should have more tackles, then a defensive lineman getting double teamed each play.
Shane Ray is a 245 pound outside linebacker, Leonard Williams is a 305 pound defensive end. How about this for a stat: Justin Tucker was 34 of 37 on FGs last year. See the point? Try to block that out.
Nope, stats don't support your opinion. Joey Bosa DE 2 seasons 23 Sacks - 83 tackles In 2 freakin seasons JB has almost the same amount of tackles as Williams. My point? IF people here want to make a big stink about Darron Lee, and single him out for the Jets defensive woes, guess what? I CAN MAKE an EVEN Bigger stink about Lenard Willams !!
Read my post above comparing to Joey Bosa.., stop the bullshit about weight differences.....has nothing to do with that IT's ALL about whos has been more disappointing as a PLAYER.
Agree that there is more to the Jets poor "D" than just Lee, but he has seriously underperformed. Williams has also, but in his favor he's usually double and tripled teamed since there is no else the other team has to worry about. Here's where I'm at: with a supposed excellent defensive mind in Bowles, he should've been able to take the players he's been given and mold at least a mediocre defense, And beyond Bowles, the Jets have spent premium picks and money on "D" and where has it gotten them? Where they're at at this point is really inexcusable.
Lalalalala not reading it. Can not compare a 305 pound DE to a 245 pound OLB. But what did you think of my Justin Tucker comparisons? NO sacks!
Agreed , it's been disappointing to see such little to no progress with all the top D players drafted. And this nickname for the secondary, "New Jack City", give me a freakin break. My fault is that I have too much patience for this new regime.....what else can i do but support them and the players? It could be another long season.
So you think sh&t play by one player justifies sh&t play by another? LOL, I'm through reading your logic.
Yes. Major improvement too (from his rookie season to that of his 2nd season last year). 2016: 70 tackles. 1 sack. 2 passes defended and 0 fumbles forced. 2017: 94 tackles. 3 sacks. 3 passes defended and 2 fumbles forced. It's so weird to see Jet fans harping all over this kids 1st round draft status while being unaware that... Darron Lee, last year, amongst all 2nd year defensive players drafted from 2016's draft class (DE's, DT's, NT's, MLB's, IMLB's, OLB's, Safety's and CB's) ranked 7th in combined total tackles (94) amongst all 2nd year players. No. Not just amongst First Rounders either. But amongst all 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th rounders (undrafted as well) the kid ranked 7th in combined total tackles with 94. Not only that but his 3.0 sacks ranked 3rd amongst all 2nd year Linebackers drafted from 2016's draft class (MLB's/OLB's/IMLB's) and tied for 1st amongst all MLB's and IMLB's. Just, weird to me.
